Re: THE EQUALIZER - Damn, That Show is Good

I agree with Andy on this. The point of the series "The Equalizer" was that it was about a former spy who was making up for prior bad deeds by doing favors for people in trouble. You just answered his newspaper ad of "Odds Against You?" and he would equalize them for you. Made f...

Re: Box Office Weekend 6/22 - JERSEY BOYS "Tanking"

This is just an observation and not really a comment, but the man is 84 years old. It's just stunning to me that he's still making any films, let alone so many major productions in such varied genres.

Re: GHOSTBUSTERS Re-Release & New Blu-Rays

I'm a little gun shy about this GHOSTBUSTERS release. The picture quality of the original Blu was a travesty, but just recently they did a new 4K transfer that supposedly was a big improvement. Can't tell for sure if it's the same transfer for this release but it sounds like it. So I guess the quest...

Re: STARGATE Film Coming from Emmerich/Devlin/WB/MGM

They won't have to work too hard to improve on the original, which despite a fantastic first act (typical of the Emmerich/Devlin films) is AWFUL (also typical of the Emmerich/Devlin films).

Re: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - May 2016

The funniest joke I saw on Twitter about it was that it was the story of Batman Vincent Superman.

Also Andy, I'm 99.9% sure the second picture in the original post isn't Gal Gadot.

Re: INTERSTELLAR (2014) - Christopher Nolan

I'm not the world's biggest Nolan aficionado though the DARK KNIGHT RISES didn't bother me at all (I liked the film a whole lot) as it is still, fundamentally, a comic book film requiring a suspension of disbelief on a number of levels. Something that pretends to be a "serious" thriller l...

Re: INTERSTELLAR (2014) - Christopher Nolan

Those kinds of plausibility gaps are why much of Nolan's work drives me insane. Oh, and I found out the trailer music is actually Dario Marianelli, not Zimmer. Yep. V FOR VENDETTA. I think the track is "Evey Reborn." And I still can't believe, like literally cannot believe, the plot of TH...

Re: HALLOWEEN Complete Collection from Anchor Bay/Shout! Fac

I admit that I believe 6 is actually watchable -- especially in the theatrical cut, which is superior to this workprint people have wanted to see for many years. I think a lot of fans who've never seen the workprint will be surprised how sluggish the "Producer's Cut" is -- and its origina...

Re: HALLOWEEN Complete Collection from Anchor Bay/Shout! Fac

Different strokes. I was exposed to the first one at a very young age and it blew my mind in so many ways. It was terrifying at the time, but more importantly it was made in such a way that invited analysis, and I found myself going back to it often as my film tastes developed.

Re: INTERSTELLAR (2014) - Christopher Nolan

Watching it again, I don't think that's a particularly good trailer. I remember seeing the GRAVITY trailer last year and people had a strong reaction to it. If Nolan's name wasn't on this, that trailer -- by itself -- isn't all that compelling. I love that there's a classic Nolanderp moment right i...

Re: HALLOWEEN Complete Collection from Anchor Bay/Shout! Fac

four and five are just plain bad . Five is legitimately, objectively bad even for a huge fan of the series like myself, but I love four. It's probably the one I watch most next to the first one. It's essentially a remake of the first one of course (much like they all are), and Dwight H. Little is c...

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER - 4/14

I get why, but I think they overplayed the "70's paranoia thriller" hand. It's more of the Social Commentary Dressed as Sci-Fi genre. It has much more in common with MINORITY REPORT than THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR. Either way, I really dug it. THE AVENGERS hits higher highs, but CAP 2 is muc...

Re: THE ABYSS - 2014? / Transfer finished?

I'm glad to know I'm not going crazy then. And it gives me hope for the future Blu release, whenever that may be. What I saw was gorgeous enough and is light years better than any version I've ever seen on TV.
