The other part to this is Carpenter's Halloween theme (although acknowledging he had help). For years Psycho was considered THE all-time horror theme until 1978. I just think those three accomplishments of Carpenter's alone are going to make it very difficult to exclude him from an induction. Can't...

Dark Star seemed as much Dan O'Bannon's as Carpenter's. which could be why I like it and have no use for most of Carpenter's output. His stuff seems very boxed-in and airless to me, with cardboard characters and nothing interesting going on under the bland surfaces. He's one of those directors who,...

Looks like it's close to making $100 million stateside. Any idea on how much it cost to make? I'm kinda cheering for it to do all right at the BO cause Hollywood without Johnny Depp is not worth paying attention to even more than I'm already not paying attention to it. Just my two cents.

I remember watching TDAT and seeing Quaid's character trekking however many hundred of miles through the snow and thinking they had reinvented the phrase 'trying to get away with it'. Visually it was impressive, but a poor popcorn movie at that.

In a way Hughes opened the doors to the teen genre (or brought it to the fore) and closed it upon leaving the industry. 20 years since his heyday and the genre is still all his very own.

Minus the visuals, what's your impressions of the original? (It's nice to see Hollywood is attempting a re-do that might actually turn out better than the original.)

Why do people keep making this joke? Radcliffe is 20 now playing 16-17. We're not exactly talking Kevin Spacey in Beyond The Sea here.
But it seems like he's been around forever.
