Re: WATERWORLD - Arrow Limited Edition with 3 Different Cuts - December
I do remember the production being nicknamed "Kevin's Gate" at the time, and I remember plenty of predictions of doom for it before it opened. One AD who was working with me at the time tried to be a contrarian by saying that it was going to be a "big hit", which it wasn't. It wa...

Re: Twilight Time - New Titles Announced
A Man Called Peter was directed by my grandfather. That's an easy pickup for me - I have it on DVD but would love to have it in HD. I have a plaque at home commemorating that the Directors Guild nominated my grandfather for Best Director for this film. It was one of three such nominations he receive...

Re: WATERWORLD - Arrow Limited Edition with 3 Different Cuts - December
I've sat through the longer version of this (for review purposes). I can't imagine sitting through an EVEN LONGER version.

Re: DARK PHOENIX - February - Trailer
There's also the New Mutants movie they're rebuilding now.
Not sure that this one is actually intended to end the X-Men movies, but that could happen if it bombs badly enough.

Re: RIP Burt Reynolds
Burt Reynolds had a checkered career, to say the least. At his peak, he was on top of Hollywood in the 70s and could have and should have been able to make more of a long-term impact in terms of his choices. But he clearly never conquered his inner demons and problems. He started out as a young jock...

Re: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (and Galactica 1980) On Blu-Ray!
My brother watched most of the episodes, especially the two-parters, when they originally aired, while staying over at my dad's for the weekend. When the original three hour premiere aired, the whole family watched it together. After the show died, I remember both the cut-down pilot movie and Missio...

Re: Neil Armstrong Movie Airbrushes History
To be honest, I felt and feel that Titanic was itself way overpraised. Had nice moments, particularly in the second half, but wow, what terrible dialogue throughout! As for BP, I have a feeling Disney will send that as a screener to DGA. (Last year, they sent Guardians 2, and the year before they se...

Re: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (and Galactica 1980) On Blu-Ray!
I have serious trouble accepting that this will be the 40th Anniversary.
The only wake-up call I've had from that was the passing of Richard Hatch last year and realizing his age.
To me, it was yesterday that my brother and I would watch those episodes.

I would only be interested if they could present the two missing cues from "Lost Planet of the Gods" that probably got burned up in the fire at Universal.
Those cues do exist at least as mixing elements, since they are part of the newer DTS-HD MA 5.1 mixes heard on the blus from 2015.

Re: Neil Armstrong Movie Airbrushes History
To be fair, there have been plenty of movies (and television series) that were critics' darlings for various reasons but did not light up the box office (or ratings). That's not a political thing - it's a preference thing - and sometimes, I have found it to be a snobbish thing. (Witness the Academy'...

Re: Neil Armstrong Movie Airbrushes History
Time and Vanity Fair's critics both felt the movie was too self-indulgent and too self-important. The other advance reviews I've seen so far, mostly from British sources, (Daily Telegraph, Times, Daily Mail) and a few industry ones (Variety, Reporter, The Wrap) and EW all are saying good things. The...

Re: Neil Armstrong Movie Airbrushes History
Buzz wasn't subtle about it. But that doesn't change that Armstrong's family and biographer did not see the book or this film as un-American. And I think Damien Chazelle is fully aware of who funded NASA and the political reality of the Apollo Program. But that's not what the book or this movie are ...

Re: Neil Armstrong Movie Airbrushes History
I would wait to attack this movie until someone here has actually seen it. Those who have actually seen it and reviewed it have said that it is quite a good film. It's certainly one that is going to be submitted for Awards consideration this fall and I'm sure I'll see a screener for it. Damien Chaze...
