Re: Extended editions
DAMNATION ALLEY (1977) had extra scenes as well, from deleted original footage as I recall.

Re: The Orson Welles Discussion Thread
For a long time, I considered THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS to be my favorite movie. I'm not sure I would say that now, but it's definitely in the top 10. I find it a rewarding experience whenever I watch it. Well, rewarding and frustrating is probably more accurate. The film does have some problems, an...

Re: The Orson Welles Discussion Thread
I was 19 years old when I first saw CITIZEN KANE in a film class (projected from 35mm!). I was not averse to black and white films at the time, though it would be fair to say that I had the misconception that movies from the 30's and 40's were not "sophisticated", at least compared to movi...

Re: Commentary Tracks - The Good, The Bad & The Unlistenable
Some more favorites and a few disappointing ones. Good/Interesting: HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP - With Mark Goldblatt, on a few Region B releases. (Not sure if it was ever released domestically.) Gives good insight into the problems the film had and what had to be done to "fix" it. THE IPCRESS...

Re: Commentary Tracks - The Good, The Bad & The Unlistenable
Like some others here I don’t like commentaries that recite/rehash commonly found information like credits from IMDB. I greatly prefer commentaries that dig deeper resource-wise (books I don’t have, articles I don’t have access to, etc). I also like when the commentators offer unique interpretation....

Re: 48 HOURS Blu-Ray Remaster (And ANOTHER 48 HOURS) From Paramount in June
Just watched 48 HOURS movie two nights ago. The parts that never worked still don't work (Nolte's abrupt friendly change towards Murphy's character, Nolte's relationship with his girlfriend, the concept of police backup which would have most likely brought the proceedings to a close a lot quicker), ...

Re: MIDWAY Special Edition (with Andy's TV Version?) Plus GRAY LADY DOWN, MacARTHUR Coming from Powerhouse Indicator
I have a hard time calling MIDWAY a great movie, yet I will watch it whenever it appears on my TV screen. No idea why I find this movie so watchable. Nostalgia, probably--I have pretty strong memories of seeing this in grade school. For some reason I would quote Charlton Heston from this movie. I wo...

Re: Read a Book, then Watch Its Movie!
Forgot to make an entry for this a month or so back. Black Sunday by Thomas Harris I re-read this novel for the first time in many years a few months back as well. I had remembered the book being better than it actually is. Still, for a first novel it is not at all bad and obviously Harris went on ...
