Re: rate the last movie you saw

I cant believe MJ loves a Del Toro movie! :D Is really is that good, though. Del Toro fans will of course eat it up, but reviews across the board have been glowing, and for good reason. I'm sure the central conceit will get some "bad laughers" in some theaters, but I found it completely captivating...

Re: Quentin Tarantino's STAR TREK Warp Speeds to Pre-Production & HARD "R" RATING

For such a supposed fan of the franchise, it's VERY odd that Tarantino "requires" the movie to have an R rating, let alone a "hard" R. Since when was that EVER a part of the appeal of the TV series or subsequent movies? :? We don't need an R-rated Star Wars , nor do we need Trek filled with F-bombs ...

Re: (Not) Breaking News: FIRST BLOOD Is a Great Movie

Leonard Maltin had a rough year in '82, handing out 1.5 star reviews originally to FIRST BLOOD, BLADE RUNNER and THE THING (ALIEN was also a 1.5 star film for years until it was "revised"). Not sure what he was dealing with at the time, but it must have been something! To be fair, most fim cr...

Re: (Not) Breaking News: FIRST BLOOD Is a Great Movie

Jeez, I'm gonna sound like an idiot for saying this, but... First Blood is laughable . I think the first time I sat down and watched it all the way through was on the initial DVD in the early-00's, and parts of it are embarrassingly cartoonish, like the random soldier bellowing, "BULLS-EYE!" after b...

Re: Disney Buying Fox? Ugh

I've mentioned it before, but Disney made THE HELP as a Touchstone release -- it grossed $200 million and won Oscars. Then they basically shut down Touchstone for good after that! They'd rather make billions, not millions. There's something deeply flawed with the entire Hollywood system (not just D...

Re: Quentin Tarantino to do Trek?

Hopefully it will have 5 minutes of action and be otherwise comprised of three hour-long dialogue sequences: one on the Bridge, one in the Transporter room, and the rest in Kirk's quarters with a half dozen alien women representing his sexual libido. Maybe it could be some kind of ENEMY WITHIN head...

Re: Quentin Tarantino to do Trek?

Tarantino talks about a LOT of projects that end up never happening, so the odds of this coming to fruition are about less than 10%.

I happened to really enjoy Orient Express, but I'm a fan of Branagh in general.

Re: Weekend Box Office 12-3 - Same ol Same ol

Pleased to see Murder On The Orient Express chugging steadily towards a $100 million gross. it's the type of sturdy, old-fashioned, character-driven drama we need more of in this age of superheroes and CGI kiddie kartoons.

Re: THE POST - Spielberg, Hanks, Steep - Dec/January

I haven't missed a Spielberg movie in theaters since Amistad, so obviously I'm going. It'll be nice to have at least one major studio movie for adults this season.

Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE In All Kinds of Trouble?

It was surprisingly alright. B-minus. Nice to hear hints of Elfman's Tim Burton Batman theme in there.

There has never been -- nor will there ever be -- a good movie based on a video game.
