I wonder which part of his record collection will score the film.
It will be the best composer in Hollywood, according to him.

I can hear it now:

"..Live Long and prosper you Motherf*****"

At least we won't have to see Travolta in dreadlocks on this show.

Re: Where (and when) did you first see each of the Star Wars movies?

STAR WARS I saw it with Dad in 1977 at the Paramus Route 4 theater (long gone, it's now an LA Fitness) when I was 10 on the second week it opened, The line was wrapped around the building twice EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Totowa Cinema, Route 46 on opening night. Line wasn't as bad as STAR WARS. This theate...

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - July 7th

I remember the NY DAILY NEWS giving a review of SUPERMAN back in 1978 and mentioned Williams' music be, ands I remember the quote, "Thunderously corny."

There are Cygnus-crew-like snobs in every decade.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - July 7th

Michael Gacchino doing Michael Giacchino: Eh. It reminds me of so much else these days. There's no distinctive theme, and it sounds like something played directly onto a keyboard and then transcribed for orchestra by a team of "assistants". Mostly bland tuttis, with no distinctive use of the variou...

Re: Steven Spielberg Directors Box Set - $14 Amazon UK

Universal's out of market discs are not region locked by rule. And Amazon's region listings are utterly useless most of the time. Consult message boards! :) I hear you. By the way, when I clicked on the link above some time after you posted it on Monday, the price came out to be $28 shipped with th...

Re: Steven Spielberg Directors Box Set - $14 Amazon UK

Too bad it's Region B2. I don't have the capability to play non-A1 yet. It is region free, the discs are basically the exact same as the US releases save additional language options. Price went up a bit but might go back down again -- worth bookmarking and checking in throughout the week. AI found ...

Re: Oscars 2017 - Better Late Than Never Edition

Another example that comes to mind,I just think about Steven Soderbergh's effort to get BEHIND THE CANDELABRA produced for theatrical release. Nobody wanted to do it and ultimately HBO made it. While I liked the movie, it did not have that big screen feel to it. It may have been better suited for th...

Re: Oscars 2017 - Better Late Than Never Edition

I think we agree she was over the top. People will likely differ in their reactions to it. Oscar speeches and moments have been charged events throughout my life, including the infamous Sacheen Littlefeather bit and the Vanessa Redgrave bit, etc. but I don't think it's those moments that have cause...

Re: STAR WARS ROGUE ONE - December 16th

Yes. I listened to the ROGUE ONE album yesterday. Lack of cohesion, vitality, and pretty boring. What's what the choral music coming out of nowhere and seemingly adding nothing to the music? It was distracting, mainly because the score seemed very unforcused. A couple moments also sounded more like ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Meh. They cut out one section of his Doctor Strange score that sounded like Star Trek...in his defense, you could do that for every composer and every score they wrote at some point and do the same thing. I don't think the two themes sound much alike, but at least DOCTOR STRANGE's theme fits the fi...

Re: WONDER WOMAN - 2017- Trailer

At first I was impressed thinking, "They're going to go back to the original origin tale!" but then as I noticed it was World War I, not World War II, my enthusiasm deflated. I have no idea if this is based on any comic book treatment of recent years, but it almost seems like that if you have it se...
