Re: RIP James Earl Jones

Although this has the feel of a TV movie that got a theatrical release, it could have been better with a bigger budget. and film treatment. Still, it's a good movie for what it was and somewhat forward thinking for its time. Nice, brief Goldsmith score too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXdA0z5BUig

Re: All Things Kurosawa

Unfortunately the footage does not exist (or so the title card says)...the Criterion DVD presents the re-release print from 1952 or 1953. I wish the footage was available - the film uses title cards to fill in the places where I am guessing the cuts were made. I wish it had included some of the mat...

Re: The Horrible Cover Art Thread

All I could think of was: God forbid these end up DNR'd just like the Cameron UHDs. ALIENS did not seem as bad to me as most people complained about. I was OKAY with it. TRUE LIES, however, was frustrating. Part of the performance - at least visually speaking - is the sometimes subtle and not so su...

Re: RDJ back in the MCU...as Doctor Doom?!

Another problem apart from the weak development of the "Marvels" ensemble is that I've already forgotten about "The Ten Rings" storyline and characters and NEVER could sit through THE ETERNALS for the same reason. The individual stories of these people are "lost" on me....

Re: Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS Close To Shutting Down Despite Being Halfway Finished

Odd that it's still going though if it is some kind of smear campaign. Which is what Nolte was pointing out. The notion of an independently financed production in the modern era of corporate entertainment control may not necessarily be a threat to the profits of corporate Hollywood. However, if thi...

I don't conclusively know. Can I trust Variety's perspective or objectivity on this? A person's point of view may be verry well different, compared the next person.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Mission To Mars (2000) 4 of 10 =This film has never had a Blu-Ray release in the US and likely never will (Disney) so I got a German Blu-Ray release that is region free with proper English track. I remember seeing this once as a rental from Blockbuster back in 2002-03 I think and being underwhelmed...

Funny this movie ended up getting made in Italy by Marco Bellochio: https://www.amazon.com/Kidnapped-Blu-ray/dp/B0D4636KYB?th=1&psc=1&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&linkCode=ll1&tag=andyfilm01-20&linkId=f4c44da85e6833683e1050c2d756addd&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl I think you were r...

Re: BEVERLY HILLS COP: AXEL F - July (Netflix)

Perhaps "Top Gun Maverick" was the archetype for the on and off delay of this picture. Since Bruckheimer got the success with Maverick, this may have been a reason for the delay = to capture that same recipe for success.

I just watched the first 10 minutes and loved what I saw so far. I will wait until tonight when we can sit down and watch it in full.
