George Lucas 60 MINUTES Interview (1999) on Andy's YT Channel

I dug out my tape of this excellent pre-PHANTOM MENACE release interview from 60 MINUTES and put it up on my channel. It's a really good glimpse into the excitement before this film was released, the watershed moment this movie was for digital technology (for better or worse), and Lucas' overall POV...

Re: Andy's Youtube Uploads - Post-Siskel & Ebert SNEAK PREVIEWS Archive Unearthed

A time when movies were aimed at adults and not 12 year-olds is more what I meant to say. This is not the cinema of 2024 which is one recycled concept after another. I agree with Gene on Great Train Robbery...a movie you want to like...but it's stilted and dull. I've only managed to get th...

Re: Andy's Youtube Uploads - Post-Siskel & Ebert SNEAK PREVIEWS Archive Unearthed

My friend's archive of Lyons/Medved/Gabler shows dried up so I'm just re-upping the 100+ episodes from Gene and Roger's PBS SNEAK PREVIEWS run, one each week. These were put up by someone at PBS for IMDB and then removed last year. I'll be at it a while but I don't have much time to invest right now...

Re: This Week's Aisle Seat - Spring Rundown Edition

Exactly Andy, it was licensed through Studio Canal. Very odd Warner picked it up for the American market but sat on it. The director claimed it was because of TIGHTROPE but I don't know how accurate that was.

Re: SUPERGIRL (1984) and METEOR (1979) - Improved German Blu-Rays

That's great Andy, so glad it worked out. You're very welcome. JPC does a superb job with packing/shipping, I've never had a problem with them on that end. My only issues have ever been stock-based -- i.e. they canceled my SUPERGIRL even though it showed as in-stock, so I ended up buying it from Gro...

Re: ALIEN: ROMULUS - August - Fede Alvarez, Star-Free Cast - Trailer

This is going to be ALIEN for kids who have never seen ALIEN, apparently.

Another Fox-catalog raider from Disney that they have to hope will make more coin than THE FIRST OMEN.

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th

That is the kind of asinine plotline that only the anti-Christian bigots of Hollywood could conjure. Agree Eric. It's insulting and they get away with it because Christians right now are just easy grist for the mill. I knew it was over when Father Brennan (who goes from an apparent heretic trying t...

Re: KING KONG (1976) on 4K UHD

Uh oh...music issue from a Blu-Ray.com user: For the log scene, John Barry's score track, titled 'Ravine', is supposed to start at the 1:13:23 mark of the film. I verified this on the Shout Factory Blu Ray disc. On the Paramount 4K disc, the 'Ravine' score track does not start until approximately 2-...

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th

6/10 What a weird movie. I think director Arkasha Stevenson was more interested in making a pseudo-arty supernatural religious commentary than an overt horror movie, which might explain the fact that -- for whatever good this film does -- there's no suspense in it at all, and nothing pulling the vie...

Re: KING KONG (1976) on 4K UHD

A few people complained the color was "too hot" but IMO this smokes the old master from the Shout Factory release, which was probably 20+ years old. The detail level is superb and I like the way it looks. Agreed too I much prefer this movie over Jackson's overstuffed vanity project. As for...

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th

Box-office disaster worldwide open of $17 million. Maybe this will show Disney the Fox catalog has little value and they should sell it off. I mean the APES is a "modern franchise" so it'll make $$ but how much is another ALIEN movie even going to make now. Especially since it's, like FIRS...

ROLLING THUNDER (1977) - Andy's 4K UHD Review

ROLLING THUNDER 7.5/10 Paul Schrader and Heywood Gould’s script for John Flynn’s ROLLING THUNDER (95 mins., 1977, R) makes for a pungent slice of ‘70s cinema that Shout premieres on 4K UHD this month in a spectacular upgrade on its previous MGM HD master (and 2013 Blu-Ray release). William Devane s...

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th

James Flower's takes I usually am in sync with. I'm guessimg, based on the pretentiousness of the director, that this is mostly an A24 wannabe with some not really synced up connection with the original films thrown around. Remember this was a Hulu movie with no stars so the fact its tanking isn't t...

Re: Disney Unveils Tired IP Rollouts for 2025 and Beyond

There's no creative reason to make another Toy Story, the last one wasn't that good but they seem hellbent on "reintroducing" the franchise to a new crop of kids. Thank God Disney didn't make ET as they would've made a new movie every year. That slate is so underwhelming. Lame Marvel which...
