Re: rate the last movie you saw

How do you know that they're aware that's how time works here? Youre just assuming they have all the answers when theyre probably as in the dark about us as we are them.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

(1) To me the whole film does not deliver on its build-up. It's scary and suspenseful at the beginning and then gives me a payoff that makes me feel not particularly satisfied because I can't buy the idea that the aliens are that "good" since I've seen them not just abduct a child under scary circu...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

One of my favorite movies of all-time, and for me, easily one of the greatest science fiction films ever made too. For whatever reason I find CE3K to be a much more "repeatable" film than E.T. Don't get me wrong I love E.T. but it is more of a "children's film" and I'm not always up for its heart-wr...

Didn't notice it...could be compression. It's the music running under the interview endings, so either way it's definitely not a big deal.

Re: ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD - Ridley Scott, December

I didn't see it but look forward to watching it at home. These days my theatrical film going is extremely limited plus with things going on at home this fall and an almost 4 year old, I've been unable to see a whole lot (I've made it out to Last Jedi, Blade Runner and It since September but that's i...

Re: ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD - Ridley Scott, December

But I do reserve the right to speak up when I see something that's way off. That may not be popular, but it's the way I've conducted myself not only here but where I regularly live and work. I just watched NBC Nightly News. They reported on this story the same way every other outlet has: that this ...

Re: ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD - Ridley Scott, December

Where did I write that Michelle Williams wasn't a good actress? That's totally besides the point. In fact, you totally misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't "dismissing" her but merely saying Wahlberg has sold tickets to films that have made a lot of money. She hasn't. I guess that's controversi...

Re: ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD - Ridley Scott, December

At a certain point, I find it necessary to correct a lot of misconceptions being thrown around here, usually from individuals who either don't know all the information or don't understand the information they have. That's probably the most condescending thing I've read today, but thanks, I guess, f...

Re: ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD - Ridley Scott, December

Wahlberg now getting all kinds of grief for getting $1.5 mil for reshoots while most everyone else did it for nothing. The main crux of the "controversy" seems to be Michelle Williams should also get $1.5 million just because she's a woman. The issue that people do pay to see Mark Wahlberg and most ...

Extremely familiar plot given a new workover in this slick-looking Jennifer Lawrence film, due out in March:

Re: TROY Director's Cut Wrecks James Horner's Score

It's possible to write "good music" that's also not "good film music" at the same time, not when it doesn't fit what the film is trying to do. On Troy, I do like Horner's score overall and feel they were right to toss what Yared composed. It was way too heavy and also indulgent. Dramatically it woul...

Re: TROY Director's Cut Wrecks James Horner's Score

It's one of those things -- I thought the movie was OK initially, probably a bit better than you, yet it looks a lot better now in light of where things have gone in terms of summer-time blockbusters. In general though, movies that used to be a "C" from 10-20 years ago are more like a "B" by today's...

TROY Director's Cut Wrecks James Horner's Score

Caught a few minutes of the "Director's Cut" the other night and instantly made me recall how ruined Horner's (really good) score was in this edit. Yes, there are a few solid additions to the DC, yet I feel the music is so compromised, I'd rather watch the theatrical cut. And of course, the theatric...
