I watched this a few weeks ago and the transfer was really terrific except for about two minutes where it looked like absolute garbage on my 42 inch Samsung. For those familiar with the film, it is during the siege, when Leigh gets shot in the arm while she's trying to get Wilson out of his cell. I ...

The new 2 disc release of MAGNIFICENT SEVEN from MGM...

Guys, is there any reason to pick up the new 2 disc release of MAGNIFICENT SEVEN from MGM? I have the previous special edition release and this seemed to have the same contents...

Tony Scott films generally make me upset these days... Way too much Shaky Cam and choppy editing. I used to really enjoy his films. REVENGE is still a favorite of mine, although I don't think it has a satisfying ending. And I will always love THE LAST BOY SCOUT. It still has one of the best screenpl...

Thanks, Andy. Now would probably be a good time to break the cellophane on the previous release so I can watch the new documentary. ;)

MGM's new release of THE FOG

I was loitering around at Best Buy earlier and noticed this new release of THE FOG from MGM. Is the content the same as the previous Special Edition release or will it be necessary for me to pick it up?

I really enjoyed the excerpt from Mike Siegel's documentary, especially the comments made by Senta Berger regarding Dundee. She is still a very beautiful woman... Her barking dogs in the background were especially amusing. I've always been a huge fan of this movie. It's a total train wreck experienc...

Hi, guys. I've seen that DEATH RIDES A HORSE is out on DVD from MGM in R2. Does anybody know if this is coming out in R1?

Season this with a score by Christopher Young and I am THERE like a freeloader at Bruce Wayne's birthday party.

I'm probably in the minority but I have to say that I liked this movie, at least the first 3/4 of it. I think Stone made a poor editing decision with the death of Val Kilmer's character and I don't think the film ever recovered from it. My folks, who come from a different generation, of course, hate...

I'm a big Peter Hyams junkie. I wish this movie would just come out already... Maybe studio executives got nervous about Ben Kingsley's hairpiece.

You might be getting the end of YEAR OF THE DRAGON confused with the end of HEAVEN'S GATE, which does have an ending that takes place further down the line. YEAR OF THE DRAGON ends with another funeral parade in Chinatown. The Stanley White character, after having been relieved of duty, busts in on ...

Thanks, Andy. Regarding Year Of The Dragon, I always thought the film had been edited down from a longer version as well but Cimino does not address this at all in his commentary. The impression I got was that this was the movie he wanted to make and the only problem he has with the film is that he ...

Or someone may have just gotten concerned about having an isolated score track. We haven't had very many of those from WB. Apart from that, the movie looks great and the commentary track is still enjoyable.

Year Of The Dragon now on DVD

I've always been a fan of this movie. I don't think it adds up at the end but I give it points for aiming high... Warner Bros released YEAR OF THE DRAGON on DVD last week. I was happy to discover when I picked it up that there is a commentary track by director Michael Cimino. I would have been perfe...

I watched the DVD this weekend. The commentary track was great, as all the Peckinpah commentary tracks have been. But no mention of the Jerry Fielding score. There is a point in the track where it seems like Nick Redman is talking about having seen the film with the Fielding score put back in and th...
