Eric and Andy, do you really want to drag all of that over here? Because if you do, I think it's only fair that the FSM posters being criticized by name should be informed and allowed to represent themselves. Personally, I find Andy's site a friendly oasis from that type of conflict and would like t...

Okay, RomanD, I just ordered a copy of this based solely on your recommendation. If I don't like it, I'm comin' after you for my refund! Seriously, thanks for the review. One of my monster-lovin' friends has been talking about this for awhile now, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'll follow up with...

Sorry if I wasn't clear about my "declare a winner" comment, Andy -- that wasn't directed at anyone here. I was only speaking for myself. I don't need to be sold on the picture and sound quality of these formats -- as I mentioned elsewhere earlier, I had a Toshiba HD-DVD player for a few w...

Well, this doesn't do anything for me. If it were a commercially-available CD, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But I'm not paying $9.99 (or whatever it is) for a download. I don't like the idea of them charging basically the same price as a budget CD when I have to pay all of the "manufacturing cost...

Well, that's one side of the story. Here's Jackson's version, which sounds very reasonable to me: "Our issue with New Line Cinema has only ever been about their refusal to account for financial anomalies that surfaced from a partial audit of The Fellowship of the Ring. Contrary to recent commen...

Not so fast. Yesterday, The Digital Bits had some comments regarding porn and high-definition : Then there's this: A few readers have e-mailed us today about the news that some of the leading porn companies, like Digital Underground and Wicked Pictures, have decided to back HD-DVD for cost and ease ...

Well, I think HD-DVD may be winning the battle, but they're a long way from winning the war. Until one of the formats finds true mainstream acceptance, I think Blu-ray has a chance of making a comeback. I bought a Toshiba HD-DVD player last summer. After trying it out for a couple of weeks, I decide...

I expect ERAGON to die a quick death, in spite of its respectable opening. The word of mouth I've heard has been very negative, with fans of the book being especially disappointed.

I'd still rather watch a "bad" Bond movie than 90% (or more) of the movies being released these days.

Good grief, you guys can find something to complain about with just about anything. I can't believe you're condemning this sight unseen. The original is almost 25 years old now -- why can't we have an updated version for today's generation? I think a little tolerance is called for here. Just kidding...

Back to THE HOBBIT: I've been hearing all kinds of interesting rumors regarding these recent developments. My first reaction was that both sides were just playing hardball, and that it would be worked out eventually. I still think that's a strong possibility. I thought that New Line was bluffing abo...

Hey, Andy: Thanks for the tip re: BN.com. I canceled my order with Amazon and replaced it at BN, saving myself about $14.00! (I don't owe you a cut, do I? :)) I just hope they'll ship it in the next couple of days. (I had selected the "free supersaver" shipping at Amazon, so I should still...

This is why I plan on just getting the different films separately when I want them! I can certainly understand that approach, Eric. I figured, however, that since I wanted the 4-disc STM, the 2-disc SR, and the Donner cut, that the total price would be about the same as the Ultimate Box set -- I ju...

Yikes! I've been reading about this the past couple of days over at the Home Theater Forum and was wondering if Andy might chime in. Couple this with the lack of the promised original sound mix on the theatrical version of SUPERMAN THE MOVIE and you have a lot of unhappy Superman fans. I'm willing t...
