Re: Rocketeer Blu-Ray in December

Considering how much cleavage Connolly shows in the film, I was surprised this did not go out as a Touchstone film when it was released-totally different for Disney, as is Dalton's fate.

Re: Rocketeer Blu-Ray in December

Let us not forget, this was the summer before Disney's resurgence really began: THE LITTLE MERMAID had gotten critical raves and did very well at the box office in 1989, with many hoping that it would turn around the box office track record of the previous decade. That they had gotten the team of As...

Re: Rocketeer Blu-Ray in December

Saw the film opening weekend at the El Capitan in Hollywood (it was also the reopening of the theater under that name [it had been the Paramount]) and the place was just gorgeous but a lot of us came to find out that the best place in the house for sound was the balcony-not the main floor-this film ...

Just ordered it on Amazon-finally. Gotta wait two months for it to ship, but I can wait.

Re: Remember The Alamo

What company released this in Germany? I am going to check with a couple of sources about this.

Re: Olive - March Releases

Well, KILL ME AGAIN was a pretty decent noir from John Dahl (what has he done lately) and BANDITS is one of those films that has really good moments right next to ones that make you shake your head.

And JINXED is a movie that lives down to its name....

Re: PEANUTS - Fox/Blue Sky Animated Movie - 2015

I think the Monster Cable disc is based off an earlier edition, because I know I purchased it while I was still living in Los Angeles, and I left there in early 2012. What I like about the multi-channel version is that you have a choice of the ambiance while listening-small jazz club, concert hall, ...

Re: PEANUTS - Fox/Blue Sky Animated Movie - 2015

I was a huge fan of the strip when I was a kid (had tons of the books and a few hardcovers), never missed the TV specials and loved A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN when I saw it on the big screen (although I thought that, with the exception of the title tune, that McKuen's songs were just OK). I also had ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Never had any trouble whatsoever understanding anything that was going on-perhaps the Coens were able to keep the dialogue sharp with their touches. In no way would I characterize this film as "dry." I think so many of us have become so used to fast paced cutting and dialogue in the past 2...

BRIDGE OF SPIES: 8.5/10 Spielberg and Hanks team up again (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, THE TERMINAL) for this film based on the true story of Jim Donovan, who first defended a man suspected of being a Soviet spy (Mark Rylance-wonderfully droll) then was asked to negotiate the return of...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Since the film expanded into more theaters it did do a bit better in its second weekend, so I am not giving up on it yet. Also, considering that it cost $35M and has already made about 1/3 of that back, don't lose hope, MJ. :)

THE WALK: 8.5/10 Even though I know the outcome of this story, for the last 40 minutes I was literally cringing in my theater seat watching this extraordinary work from Robert Zemeckis, and not only has he made his best film since CAST AWAY and to a lesser extent, FLIGHT, but he has made one of the ...

Re: Twilight Time - Nov/Dec Titles Announced

If the Garner SUPPORT double-feature is their normal price, that is one I will pre-order, and to have Elmer Bernstein's score for HAWAII as an isolated track would make that a worthwhile purchase (even if Max von Sydow's character is one of the more despicable ones in 60's cinema).
