Re: QR codes in the end credits of movies

It's embarrassing. Even worse than product placement! I remember being nonplussed when there was a trailer for X-Men: Days Of Future Past halfway through the end credits of Amazing Spider-Man 2 . It wasn't even a promise of a future crossover (Disney's buyout of Fox was years in the future)...

QR codes in the end credits of movies

Last year Sound Of Freedom did it, and now Origin. It's like that "THIS SPACE FOR RENT" gag from Top Secret! has actually come to pass. :?

Ugh that sucks. Did you get it through Amazon? Just replace if you can. Best Buy. Eh, I had an Arrow-sized case lying around that has hinges. It's clear, so it doesn't match, but at least it fits the insert, and will hold the disc tray securely. Not worth the hassle of sending the whole thing back.

...and my Barbarian case has a broken hinge. :x And those "thick" Arrow cases are almost impossible to replace. :(

That's like winning the Special Olympics these days.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Now, Frenzy is a film I love, easily Hitchcock's one great post-Psycho/The Birds thriller. Looking forward to watching the 4K on that one in particular. :)

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Yeah, Topaz sucks . :? There's maybe one interesting shot in the entire film (where the woman is shot, and we see her crumpling to the floor from a high angle, her dress pooling around her feet like blood), but the rest is catastrophically boring. Hitch's post- Birds 60s work is a slog in general.

My copy shipped from Best Buy...which will likely be the last movie I ever purchase from them.

Re: Oscars 2024

It's amazing how many people have pumped up a fluffy, disposable bit of toy IP synergy as a movie that Means Something, just because Greta Gerwig cashed a big paycheck to add "auteurist cred" to it. Be like thinking that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was worthy of a BP nomination because ...
