Re: Olive Films - April Announcements
Cameron wasted twelve years of his life picking over the bones of the Titanic in a series of documentaries, and now it looks like he'll waste another dozen years cranking out Avatar sequels, instead of taking just a handful of days off to supervise/approve some HD transfers of his earlier films.

Yes, Sibling Rivalry is coming to BD, but not The Abyss or True Lies.

Re: Hail Caesar - Coen Bros., February 5th
More worrisome to me: early February release date, almost certainly a possible harbinger of doom as well. Yeah, like that piece of crap Fargo . The Coens have never made a movie I've disliked entirely (although the bizarre Barton Fink comes close), and all of their films get better with mult...

Re: Release Date Shuffle '17: Star Wars, Spidey, Pirates Mov
I agree, I hope it doesn't keep him out of scoring another film though READY PLAYER ONE, if it actually gets made, doesn't seem to be a project suited for a Williams score...more like Daft Punk or something, based on what little I know of the material. I've read the book, and seeing how it's basica...

Re: Oscars 2016
Spike Lee has been irrelevant to film for a long time, and all he's doing is keeping himself in the public consciousness in trying to be relevant. He is a blow-hard that doesn't deserve the press he tries to get, and frankly I find him to be boring and irrelevant to popular culture as well. He shou...

Re: STAR WARS EPISODE VII - SPOILER Discussion Green Light
Regarding R2...seeing as this is just the first of a new trilogy of films, I'm sure he will have more to do in the sequels (that's him waiting by the Millennium Falcon when Rey goes to find Luke at the end). When you're making a decades-later sequel to a beloved film trilogy, fanservice callbacks ar...

Re: Oscars 2016
Is this all about Will not getting a nomination for CONCUSSION? Last I checked the movie got loads of bad reviews. Exactly...the Oscars ostensibly should be about honoring what are legitimately the BEST films of the year, not just checking off obligatory "token" nominations. If there aren...

Re: Weekend Box Office 1/17 - RIDE ALONG Tops Busy Weekend
HATEFUL EIGHT going to be Tarantino's lowest grossing film since JACKIE BROWN, and far under it after inflation is factored in. I believe you're forgetting Grindhouse , which was another movie where the "retro" presentation gimmick -- i.e. the drive-in double-feature thing, or the 70MM pr...

Wow, that's an impressive hold for The Revenant, especially considering what a bleak and brutal film it is. Word of mouth must be very good.

Re: RIP David Bowie
LOL I always felt the same and I remember that trailer vividly also. Especially when I was 11 when that movie was released -- I was like, "huh?" Bowie was like the last thing that movie's intended audience would've been interested in seeing. My mistake, the EXCITEMENT of David Bowie. :P H...
