I saw a few minutes of SUPERMAN 3 one late night on TV, and Richard Pryor was skiing off a building or something, and I was like 'What he hell is this, am I hallucinating?" After about an hour of flipping the channels I saw Robert Vaughan, cheap effects, and Supes flying through a canyon or som...

Nothing in all of Star Trek or Galactica--which were better-made shows, with better writing, better effects, and so on--captured anything as good as that moment, for me. I think that's a discussion for another time. Whether something captured a mood FOR ME is a discussion for another time? Uh--no.

I'm kind of tired with these "reinventions" that tell us the 'personal' side of the action and adventure. More action and adventure, less yap yap! :P For all the silliness and illogic in UFO and SPACE:1999, they caught this sense of the terror and emptiness of space--I think Anderson was r...

I can't take reviewers who use "iconic" so much. It's a replacement for serious thought about a movie. Reading more than two talkback comments there will make you (well, me) click off in embarrassment.

I found Supergirl pure torture to sit through--the action was hilariously unimaginative and lame, and Slater looked good but came off as a real airhead, which is a real turnoff. But I didn't like the Superman movies, either. THERE WILL BE BLOOD is a case of a movie being made in an accepted Artistic...

Andy, just for some feedback with another point of view, the only trouble I've had is, I believe, with the computer where I post--it's very slow, so when I see it taking a loooong time to post, I tend to re-post. Then, two of the same thing shows up. I really think it's a problem on this end. Other ...

Geez, that's some lineup. One of my students is an insomniac, I should just take her to the movies each night. Then again, she'd probably dig this junk.

Not having seen the movie, and having been critical of Trek product more than a fan of it, I have to say, it's truly bizarre to see a certain attitude in some of the chatter (I have avoided most of THIS thread to avoid spoilers). The argument that creating this new timeline is somehow an incredible ...

Just before I came to work, I was continuing my never-ending chore of loading CDs onto my hard drive, and the last one I did was SUPERGIRL. It had never been a favorite, but when I just randomly clicked a track and tried to imagine something to go with it, it was a lot better than when I associate i...

DOOMSDAY F (I'd give it a Z if I could) While watching this, I actually thought "Maybe I shouldn't watch movies anymore." The director seemed to want to re-do scenes from Aliens, Road Warrior and Escape from New York with more money and the dreary, DREARY automatic cynicism that's everywhe...

ALICE'S RESTAURANT B Definitely a souvenir of its time, this was a real pleasure for me, as I'm in a sixties phase right now--The Trip, Psych-Out and now this, about commies trying to form a commune. Arthur Penn's follow-up to Bonnie and Clyde is a one-of-a-kind flick that would make a good companio...

It IS kind of baffling, especially when Hollywood figures are always going on about the history of movies, and how important movies are. The materials from the movies, and the technology, are here to preserve these movies NOW. If we do the job in time, these movies will be able to be digitally prese...

I have fourteen of these titles and really enjoy them. I may have to collect them all. With the exception of MST3K--I have almost the whole run of those--I am very, very picky about "so bad they're good" movies, and in fact, I don't watch the Midnite Movies for camp value. I try to enjoy t...
