Re: rate the last movie you saw

Alan Tudyk is terrific as the villainous King Candy. (I kept thinking he was deliberately channeling a voice from one of those 60s stop-motion holiday specials but I couldn’t figure out who.) I found his channeling of the Mad Hatter from the 1951 Disney version of Alice In Wonderland to be pretty o...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I wish I could take part in the Skyfall discussions, but I haven’t seen it yet. I did get to see… WRECK-IT RALPH 7.5/10 I was pleasantly surprised by this homage to video games. While I never played Nintendo games, I did spend a lot of time (and quarters) playing arcade games in the early 1980...

Wow!

Going to be interesting to see how they make this work.

I sure hope this isn't true. Wouldn't that totally destroy the redemption arc for Anakin?

Re: Weekend Box Office 11/4 -

Did anyone see Wreck-it-Ralph? How dependent is the movie on the audience getting the video game references?

Re: Disney Buys Lucasfilm; New STAR WARS Movie in 2015

Personally, I would give the films to Brad Bird to watch over-he has not made a clunker yet, either in animation or live-action. Or, if Joss Whedon decides to try something besides THE AVENGERS after that sequel, give him a crack at this... Brad Bird is a good choice. So is Andrew Stanton. (I haven...

Re: Disney Acquires Lucasfilm.

Bigger news - more STAR WARS movies. Disney has secured the young boy market for years to come between Lucasfilm and Marvel properties. Whether they'll be any good -- maybe there's a chance if someone else gets a crack at directing and writing them! Hmmm...Marvel, Star Wars...what's next, Lego? As ...

Re: Halloween Horror Marathon 2012

Paranormal Activity 3 6/10 Better than the second installment but still can't compare to the sense of mounting dread that made the first one so frightening. A plot element added as an explanaation fo what's going on doesn't work at all. The Woman in Black 3/10 Daniel Radcliffe is fine and the produc...

Re: Halloween Horror Marathon 2012

I also like to watch scary movies/thrillers around Halloween. Earlier this week I watched Wait Until Dark, which I had never seen before. Very entertaining. I loved the way the little details of the plot in the first two acts set up the suspense of the third act. It didn’t bother me at all that the ...

Re: SKYFALL - Adele's Theme Song Released

I was a big fan of Thomas Newman in the 90's with scores like Little Women, Unstrung Heroes and Scent of a Woman. Havne't bought much lately although after watching WALL-E numerous times with my kids I've really ocme to like that score. I'm very curious to see how Skyfall turns out.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Meek’s Cutoff 7/10 This bleak but gripping film from director Kelly Reichardt tells the story of a group of 19th century pioneers desperate to cross the Oregon desert. They’re not sure they can trust their guide, food and water are scarce and the prospect of attack by Indians is ever present. This m...
