Goldsmith Tribute in STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT Sp.Ed. DVD

Just watched Paramount's latest STAR TREK Collector's Edition 2-DVD set, and it has a really nice, 20 minute tribute to Goldsmith. No great revelations but there are some fond remembrances from Rick Berman (who talks about how he fought for Goldsmith's theme as the TNG fanfare), composer Jay Chattaw...

I honestly, for the life of me can't remember ANY of the music used in The Beginning, is it possible they're going to reuse all of that with any other snippets not used in the original release? I was thinking exactly the same thing. Certainly would be the most inexpensive solution to the problem......

Schrader's EXORCIST IV -- Trailer And Stills Online

Believe it or not -- it really IS coming out! Stills here: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/gallery/photodir.php?dir=567 Trailer here (haven't checked it out yet): http://exmk.mkforces.net/exorcistthebeginning/schraders/schradertrailer.zip Apparently the trailer is on an Aussie DVD of Harlin's EXORC...

Well maybe I won't be so quick to judge. THE FOG remake is *RUMORED* to be starring Tom Welling ("Smallville," which I'm quite fond of) and Maggie Grace ("Lost"). If that's the case, I'll be there. Hopefully they'll tighten up the loose screws of the original's narrative :) Just ...

I'll grant you the proposed remake of Hitcher (which I just discovered for the first time a few months ago) is pretty uneccesary, as the '86 original isn't dated in any particular way (unlike a lot of it's 80's genre brethren). Plus, a young Jennifer Jason Leigh! There's a great 2-disc DVD Special ...

The Fog was a remake too. Original is so horrendous it's not even worth seeing.
It's a remake?

I thought the only thing remade in THE FOG was the fact they had to reshoot whole parts of it after it didn't turn out so well the first time.

I've never heard it was adapted from another source...

I dont have a problem with a new version of THE THING per se...it has been over 20 years and you're right that it's a story adapted several times a la BODY SNATCHERS. My problem is that it seems we're getting a glut of these things all over the map. THE EVIL DEAD? THE HITCHER? THE FOG? At some point...

Following along on other directors doing commentary tracks, Kevin Smith joined the director of DONNIE DARKO in the new Director's Cut release. Not a favorite movie of mine, but I'm sure fans will appreciate Smith's candor. Certainly helps to move the discussion along from the usual commentary track,...

THE THING is a Sci-Fi Channel mini-series supposedly for later this year or 2006 (they've already remade ANDROMEDA STRAIN and something else that just escapes me). Can't remember if they said it was going to be a new adaptation or tied in with the Carpenter movie somehow.......I'm pretty sure it was...

There is already a ree-release out with Commentary and some little stuff, but I heard the Australian Laserdisc had around 6 hours of extras... I think it's the American disc you're referring to, Roman. That US laser (which is impossible to get ahold of) had a 4-hour (!!) documentary plus a Director...

Special Edition DVDs You'd Like To See...

I was browsing through the Home Theater Forum boards over the weekend and caught someone in Europe posting something about a possible Special Edition of LIFEFORCE (one of my all time favorites as you know). I have no details on this, obviously, but it got me thinking about any Special Editions of mo...

I don't say with this, that you have to like Beltrami, I just want to clarify the differences between Beltrami and the others... at least Beltrami has his own voice! And I can't believe you can hear this! That's a fair point Roman. As you said, his music is generally non-thematic so frankly it does...

I'm amazed at the number of people that keep putting over Badelt's Pirates score. I don't get that at all. That's one of the most blatant examples I've seen of "miscasting" a compser on a project in recent times, at least. And it was the bland, all too typical Media Ventures approach. It ...

Hmm.....I don't doubt that the score is bad, though I'm looking forward to seeing the movie just based on the visuals in the trailer (yeah, I know, maybe that's all it is, but hey, it's better than HIDE AND SEEK, right?). To me, Brian Tyler is right up with there with Marco Beltrami (sorry Roman) an...
