Re: DARBY O'GILL, GNOME MOBILE Hitting Blu-Ray

Darby O'Gill is great fun...and slightly terrifying. The ghost carriage at the end scared me as a kid.

Watched it on Disney+ a while back- it still holds up. The FX are pretty amazing when you think all the leprechaun stuff was all done in camera and with matte paintings.

Re: Movie Nights w/the Nephew thread

I was always under impression your nephew was like 14 or 15! Didn't realize he was that old.

My favorite Barry scores:
A View to a Kill
Diamonds are Forever (love those Vegas cues)
Moonraker

Re: Movie Nights w/the Nephew thread

Wow, you didn't show Goldfinger because it's too slow...and you went with Thunderball? The most boring Connery! The underwater scenes put me to sleep. And then the sped up action at the end makes me laugh! Glad they all liked it though! I would have done Dr No, as it has a pretty good mystery/plot, ...

Re: Me namesake gets shafted

Yeah, I'd like Tailspin restored. To me, it was the best of the Disney Afternoon shows. The best scoring, and I loved the 1930s/40s take.

Besides the Wuzzles of course!

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

If you are a fan of classic animation and quality scoring, this has been an wonderful week on Netflix. The Cuphead Show 9/10 This has to be one of the most beautifully animated tv shows of all time. The backgrounds, although digitally painted, are in the watercolor style of the old Disney/ Fleischer...

Re: Me namesake hits Blu-Ray

Sorry MJ, but --- Wow- not was I was expecting at all! And I loved that trailer. The mix of animation, the combining with live-action? That's something you don't see done well every day. And the look of the Viking at the end? Straight out of Shrek/Beowolf! I wasn't interested at all before, but now ...

Re: UNCHARTED - February Junk The Way Hollywood Used to Make It?

Has any wildly popular movie produced as many bad ripoffs as Raiders Of The Lost Ark ? Aside from Romancing The Stone , it's hard to think of one that's even watchable , let alone good. :| I would rate the first Brendan Fraiser Mummy as good (not great). Although it's more a horror/adventure hybrid...

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

It's like they haven't learned ANYTHING -- why does Luke and the Skywalker story line have to continually intersect with these side franchises and characters? It must be the smallest universe ever! Oh the answer to that is easy- Luke is the only lead cast member from the original trilogy they can d...

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

Finished the Book of Boba Fett last night. It ended up being okay. It turns out that Robert Rodriguez is a lousy action director. Every episode he touches is subpar. The finale was wall to wall action, but nothing that exciting. I don't understand how Boba is in control of a city with only like 10 p...

Book of Boba Fett got better once Boba wasn't in it. I can't believe I would ever write that!

Re: John Williams at 90

I can't imagine a world where there wasn't a Williams' score coming in the future. I'm glad he's still going. Rise of Skywalker was better than it had any right to be. Interesting that one of those articles claims he is done with movies, while the Variety one doesn't! I looked into going to the Gala...

Re: NAKED GUN Revival from Seth McFarlane, Might Star Liam Neeson

I would take this over Neeson beating up people for real for the 300th time. Isn't there another one of those coming next month? It's as reliable as a new direct to video movie with Bruce Willis  Might have some laughs. Might not work either...but it's something different at least in terms...
