Re: YOUNG INDIANA JONES: The Movie?

Apparently Lucas is thinking of dusting off YOUNG INDIANA JONES -- as a feature film, to coincide with the possibility (if it ever gets done) of INDY 4 and the upcoming DVD release of the old Young Indy series: Hopefully the prospective film will be better than the old show, which was earnest and v...

Even then I'm not so sure I'll be spending my cash on this either. Quite honestly, I'd rather sit through SUPERMAN IV again (as bad as it is) than the BATMAN movies, even the good ones. They don't lend themselves to repeat viewing IMO -- the Burton films are clearly the best but I've just had littl...

[quote="AndyDursin Are/were you on vacation? I'm not surprised, I still think there are many theaters in THIS country where the "theatrical experience" is less than stellar. As much as Landis told me this in an interview the other day, and Spielberg says it has nothing to do with the ...

Interesting- what was the falling out? The whole TWILIGHT ZONE THE MOVIE deal (Vic Morrow and two children were killed on the set, Landis was tried and found innocent). Formed the basis of Steven Farber's OUTRAGEOUS CONDUCT book...I'm not sure they ever "made up," and it certainly hurt La...

After a slow start he DID open up near the end. It was nice to hear him say the EXACT same thing I did about WAR OF THE WORLDS -- specifically how that "probe" effect was ripped off from THE ABYSS (where's that guy from the FSM board now?) and how lousy the story was. (Granted I know he a...

Bay had apparently lined up a lot of interviews yesterday anticipating another no. 1 opening, and from the ones he actually went through with, such as the L.A. Times ones, he's blaming everyone but himself - lack of stars, bad marketing (despite being Dreamworks biggest ever ad spen apparently), et...

I also enjoyed CHARLIE and agree that the trailer made it look worse than it was. As a matter of fact, the trailer does a huge disservice to this film- it was thoroughly entertaining and a bit touching. I loved the Oompa-Loompas and the songs- it sounded like Elfman was allowed to let himself go and...

Elfman has done too many comic book films and his hiring was a completely uninspired choice -- resulting in OK scores that just didn't have the "joy" and memorable themes that the movies should have had. I agree with you, Andy. But when was the last time you heard any comic book movie wit...

I had the same reaction to the movie the second time around with you Mark -- it was good but there's something holding it back (the draggy "action filled" last 45 minutes) that prevents it from being anything more than a competent genre movie, despite the fantastic effects work on "S...

Re: THE OMEN 666: What Happens When You Have a Date First...

...and a movie second? Fox's THE OMEN 666 is now in production for release on (when else?) 6/6/2006. According to USA Today, "casting is underway" and filming will begin shortly in Budapest. Now, I'm not going into a rant about remaking a "classic." Quite honestly I've enjoyed T...

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. And whenever I see those ads with Ewan McGregor, I keep on expecting him to say "But you were the frozen one!" When I first heard of Bay doing THE ISLAND, I thought it was a remake of the Peter Benchley flick :) In hindsight maybe that would have resulted i...

THE SWORD OF DOOM

Just watched this (glad to see a recommendation in FSM from Andy)- it was very interesting and visually stunning- there are a couple of very, very tense moments in this film! Anyway, for anyone who has seen it, I thought it was funny that the first time I saw Ryunosuke he was dressed in black with t...

MIDWAY vs TORA! TORA! TORA! (or anything else)

Since there's a score thread in the General Chit Chat thing, I thought I'd mention "patriotic" films on this forum: which did you like better- MIDWAY or TTT? I thought the Japanese stuff from TTT was good, and the American stuff seemed to B-movie-ish. MIDWAY was so chock full of stars (inc...

That two disk Fight Club special edition was carried by all the major outlets, you'd see stacks of them at Best Buy, etc., I can't imagine it would be too hard to find. I am not sure about this, but the 2 disc special edition was supposedly taken off the market in favor of the single disc offering....
