Fantasy short BLACK ANGEL may see light of day at last...

It looks like the long-lost fantasy short Black Angel (directed by Roger Christian) has been found... http://www.wired.com/underwire/2012/12/20-12-pl_blackangel/ http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2012/11/pl_blackangel_large-660x441.jpg It’s been a legend on geeky message boards for decades...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

The tension build-up in the chase sequence climaxing in her death at the Kiss Kiss club is one of the best of the series. That is a phenomenal scene, beautifully edited and scored, and has one of Richard Maibaum's best lines, "Mind if my friend sits this one out? She's just dead!" (a line...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I recently acquired the new Bond Blu-ray set, and have set about revisiting the films. So far I've screened... Doctor No This is one of the few Connery films I've seen on the big screen (albeit an old print). Though it lacks the dash and production value of the later films, it holds-up extremely wel...

Re: RIP Charles Durning, Jack Klugman

Klugman was one of the great icons of television, having played two of the most memrable characters in TV history -- Oscar Madison and Quincy, ME. I regard Quincy as one of the finest American television shows ever, and THE best police drama. The title sequence (and theme) are among the most memorab...

Yeah, they showed it in between the trailers and the film.

It's hard to say based on just a few minutes, but I think it looks better than the last one.

I don't think I want to see it in 3-D though.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Andy-this is by a writer on the Palm Beach Post who is one of my closest friends. He has an interesting opinion on the 48fps rate, and in short, he did not like the movie, but it is a humorous read. http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/quickpulse/2012/12/17/the-hobbit-and-the-48-fps-debate-how-does-it-lo...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

The Hobbit Imagine if Casino Royale had been three hours, and wasted time setting-up plot devices for later Bond stories (that have nothing to do with Casino Royale itself), and Blofeld, Tracy di Vicenzo, Tiger Tanaka and Mr. Kidd & Mr. Wynt all made appearances. That's what this film felt like...

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones My second screening of the film -- the first being with Andy and Joanne (which was also when I first met Joanne actually!). My opinion on this films is unchanged. It is a comedown from The Phantom Menace. PM was undeniably flawed, but still sincere, entertaining and ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I also prefer Williams' score for SITH over the other two. His worst of the prequels would be AOTC, but even his abilities couldn't save that turkey. SITH had the best performances, the best acting (for the most part), and the most compelling story which gave Williams to opportunity to go full thro...

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Awful Trailers Officially Online

I got tired of people on the FSM board writing “Melody isn’t dead, just listen to this fantastic score from this movie you’ve never heard of by this composer you’ve never heard of. Isn’t it just as good as Williams and Goldsmith?” A while back a friend of mine was extolling the virtues of the score...

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Awful Trailers Officially Online

How anyone can listen to scores like Curious Case Of Benjamin Button , Girl With A Pearl Earring , Birth or The Painted Veil and claim Desplat can't "come up with a tune" is beyond me. That's just being willfully ignorant. Zimmer has NEVER written a theme as achingly lovely as Desplat can...

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Has anyone else seen this movie? Some friends of mine and I have decided to go through the whole Star Wars saga again -- in order -- and so we started with episode I the other night. One of the things that struck me the most is how this film's action sequences h...

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Awful Trailers Officially Online

If it weren't for Alexandre Desplat and Michael Giacchino, there'd be virtually nothing new to glom onto. I've said it before, but for me Desplat is part of the problem. He's not loud and ostentatious like Zimmer and his ilk, but he's melodically simple and writes music that functions more as white...

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Awful Trailers Officially Online

And it seems like almost no directors today are willing (or able) to style their films with anything other than the standard set of cliches -- hand-held shots in every scene, deliberate underexposure, blue tinting, Zimmer-like music (and I'm sure even Hans Zimmer hates this by now).
