Cool!

Hope IMDB is right about Trevor Jones. Wouldn't be the same without him. No mention of the film on Jones' own site, but his site isn't updated regularly (and doesn't list any upcoming assignments anyway).

Bugs in Blue-Ray format?

I read this interesting bit of news at totalmedia.com (where I buy most of my MiniDV tapes)... https://www.totalmedia.com/tips_31.asp Whole article is below... Blu-ray vs. HD DVD update. Sony lost the VCR battle in the 1970s when its highly regarded Betamax technology was trounced by VHS, a more wid...

Hopper is a very talented composer and ranks up there with the likes of George Fenton, especially in terms of "Style." Silimar to George Fenton? Well that is (pardon the pun) music to my ears! Fenton would have been my personal choice to replace John Williams, so this bodes well! Paul

...but now we get this . :( http://magazine.libero.it/cinema/foto/3751/connelly-dark-water-230.jpg Seriously, Jen...eat something and agree to star in a romantic comedy. I think she looks better in this picture. Give me a gal with no make-up in baggy hipster togs over a glitzy debutante any day! Paul

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! MY RESPONSE CONTAINS SPOILERS! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM... So, as far as I'm concerned, Magneto was the hero of the picture; now that Charles Xavier is, at least theoretically, out-of-the-picture, the X-Men should've installed Magneto as the ne...

JAY SHERMAN: It stinks! :( And Ottman's score to X2 was excellent. I don't know who Jay Sherman is, but I myself feel Ottman's score is the weakest of the three. The only really dynamic music in the film is when Nightcrawler attacks the president -- and that was Mozart's Requiem. I find Kamen's sco...

^^ For about the millionth time now...posts like these underscore why I haven't gone back to a theater in almost two years now. I can wait for three months and enjoy the movie on DVD in the comfort of my own home with zero hassles like these. I may just join you (in *practice* that is -- I don't me...

In fairness Powell's score was certainly not awful. I'd say it was better than Ottman's.

On the other hand it was probably not as good as Goldsmith's The Shadow either!

X-3 was great!

I can't fathom why this film has gotten negative reviews. I saw it today and consider it the best of the three. It continues to develop the characters in highly compelling ways, and advances the story in new and interesting directions (some of them very unexpected). Magneto in particular stands-out,...

There's a big difference - you're seeing an old episode of Dr Who on a TV screen less than two feet wide, not a 40ft cinema screen, which makes a helluva of a difference. No-one ever thought that Dr Who was ever exhibtion quality for a $250m+ movie. You've got a point there! But where I was coming ...

I think Carlson2005 brings-up some good points, but as Wendy Carlos once said of arts-related technology "there's no point in challenging the innevitable" (or words to that effect). I think HD video is here to stay. Whether or not it renders film obsolete is debatable. Certainly film is do...

Hooper is indeed a surprising choice. Though, not only have I heard of him, but actually have worked with him on a project several years ago. Interesting. How would you describe his style / influences? And what's his history? Is he clasically trained? Or a keyboard composer whose orchestrator takes...

I never read the book, but I was put-off by the self-important tone of the trailer -- the way it infers this is a monumentally important film (and the loud, "important" music didn't help -- did Hans Zimmer score the trailer as well?). But hey, I'm glad for the guy who wrote the book. Appar...

I do think they should hold onto Williams' themes, but as for Williams himself, it seems that he's determined to do what he originally said he wanted to do with the first Star wars trilogy - write enough thematic material so he could hand the series over to another composer a la Ken Thorne and Supe...
