Re: LONE RANGER Confirmed for May 2013 Release

Wow, they shaved...what, twenty million? And it's still over $200 million? :? I think the issue is that Verbinski tends to go overboard in his productions, so even though the original announced budget was $250 million, they may have been worried it would end up over that mark. Now it's been knocked...

I like that one better MJ!

Re: THOR 2 Coming July 2013; Branagh Not Returning

Patty Jenkins is set to direct the film -- the first woman to helm a Marvel movie. Pretty interesting choice, at least it's not, well, John Moore or some hack...THE KILLING was certainly well done...though I expected with Branagh departing they'd have gone for someone more versed in special effects ...

He's probably out of their price range. Not going to happen.

Re: The horror, the horror...Halloween movies '11

Agree totally on THE FOG. A flawed movie but an atmospheric one that keeps me coming back in spite of its obvious drawbacks. Whatever you do, DON'T import the European Blu-Ray which has a soft, bland transfer with almost no detail (you can see this on Netflix streaming btw). I've mentioned this befo...

Re: DIE HARD 5 Set for February 2013

TAKEN was a big hit and that was a January or February release I believe. I guess they are trying to follow the same pattern...and also feel that the project has a certain ceiling (I mean, it IS the fifth film in the series with an aging Bruce Willis). Whether it gets to $100+ mil in the summer or w...

DIE HARD 5, TAKEN 2 and Other Fox Releases

And another horrible title! John Moore is a hack too... 20th Century Fox has set A Good Day To Die Hard for a February 14, 2013 release, the highlight of several pictures the studio has just dated on its release calendar. Bruce Willis is set to reprise his role as John McClane in the John Moore-dire...

Re: The horror, the horror...Halloween movies '11

Not-bad sequel in that Jaws 2 / Damien: Omen II / Psycho 2 tradition of being deeply unnecessary, yet a lot better than it needed to be to make money. At least it still has that gorgeous, early 80's Carpenter / Cundey look and some reasonably good suspense. The "Michael is Laurie's brother&quo...

F-BOMB DEEP DISCOUNT.
At least you didn't have to wait!

They probably got slammed with the amount of orders. Once one of these ends up on the front page of Slick Deals it's all over.

Re: Deepdiscount $5 off ANY Title (10/11 Only)

What turned me off of DD was the many times I tried ordering an FSM CD from them (sometimes at a considerable discount), only to have them tell me it was out of stock and cancelling the order. If you don't HAVE the item, then don't ADVERTISE that you do! I never purchased anything other than...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

The Departed. Eh... A fascinating (and sometimes gripping) premise and some very good sequences but ultinately the movie never completely works. The resolution also ranks as one of the most anti-climactic lead balloons I've ever seen. Visually it is also a rather bland-looking film except for the c...

Re: Deepdiscount $5 off ANY Title (10/11 Only)

Glad you used the coupon! I think they've stepped up their game over the last 6-12 months. I can only speak from my experience but the general consensus is that the massive problems they had a year ago seem to have been fixed up unless something is out of stock. I've had good luck over the last few ...

code is HAPPY5 (good for 1 item; shipping is 99 cents, free over $15) Some $3 Blu-Rays and other deals to be had. DDD's shipping btw has improved big time over the last year. They're using the same shipping group as the Warner Archive so the turnaround is faster and their prices have been competitiv...

Re: Jurassic Park BD Trilogy 10/24

At least he's man enough to admit that TLW is a bad movie (though he's not admitting how really bad it is!). I think he probably thinks it's worse than he says...though for him, to hear him being critical of any of his work, it's surprising. BTW Sam Neill interestingly confesses that he likes his J...
