Disney streaming at a turning point?

From the BBC, link below. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-63563035 What amuses me is that the "bottom line" is taking a "hit", this coming from a company that now sits on two massive archives of films, seems to show zero respect for its history & founder. Add into that very...

Re: Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) Blu-ray -- with English subtitles?

Paul Here is the BFI copy that is on Amazon UK, most BFI discs are locked to Region B, so an all region player would be needed. I have asked a friend to see if they have it & can advise on the picture quality. The few BFI releases I own are very good. Here is the UK link. https://www.amazon.co.u...

Re: Extended editions

thanks Paul for moving over the comments. For those here who have seen / own some or a lot of these, I only really know of The Deep, but never seen it, as I had a chance to ask Peter Yates directly, it was to be a longer film & the cinema version was cut down to have more screenings, are majorit...

Re: Extended editions

Just been told The Warriors also had a television cut. See IMBD link below which give quite a lot of detail. I can confirm that when the BBC showed this, the first two showing about 1 year apart had the daylight opening & member introductions, the other sequences though were not in the broadcast...

Extended editions

I hope no one minds but I have started a new post for the USA "extended" television editions. As a European these are fascinating as to the best of my knowledge only The Eiger Sanction played in the UK on the BBC. These longer version just never played. I have cut part of my post on the Ja...

Re: JAWS 2 - Deleted Scenes, Books, Appreciation Thread!

I wish someone would write a monograph or book thing on the matter of movies that were expanded in their TV broadcasts with new footage to give us a convenient reference database on what footage should be extant even if just from a TV broadcast recording. Eric Not a book, but an old friend who used...

Re: It Had to Happen...KING KONG LIVES on Blu-Ray

Hey John Did this get a UK release? I do know 100% the trailers were issued by NSS, but never seem to go any further & I was doing a number of DEG releases about that time? I did have a tape of the John Scott score, so I guess I can thank you for that one as you were involved in mailing them out...

Re: It Had to Happen...KING KONG LIVES on Blu-Ray

Andy I have only ever seen a trailer for this, it never came to the UK, do not even recall a VHS tape to be honest! not asking for a disc review but any chance you can post one of your "normal" type reviews of the film. I like your opinions & it will give me a guide as buy it or not. U...

Re: The Horrible Cover Art Thread

While I don't like it, that looks more like some kind of publicity shot than total Photoshop. Andy The photo was part of a set of 20 (if I remember correctly) all shot blue back ground & then had different backgrounds added, they were sent out to the outlets & used however they wished. Due ...

Andy

Chucks first Bruce Lee film was Way of the Dragon, released in the USA as Return of the Dragon. You put Enter the Dragon in the opening of the reviews this week.

Anyway the films are all kind of the same, fun for their times.

Re: THE FUNHOUSE, CAT PEOPLE Coming in 4K UHD

I offered the TV version to Shout Factory, I sent to them and never heard back. :| The UHD looks great at least. Anyway another label elsewhere is interested and they DO want it. 8) Must be something to do with Shout, when they were doing The Deer Hunter I offered them the entire EMI campaign items...

Re: HIGHLANDER on 4K UHD

How much do you think Highlander will be improved in 4K? It's just that all the prints used for previous releases are pretty grainy (as an independent movie, the original negative is probably lost). Hey Paul I worked on this extensively, as it was EMI (passed over to Cannon), as far as I know, when...
