Re: RIP Alan Ladd, Jr.

A true legend and one of the nicest studio heads ever! Met him on two occasions and some how despite his position and the huge amount of people he must have had working for him, knew your name and what you were doing for the projects at hand. Always showed appreciation and gratitude for the work you...

Re: This Week's Column: A Pre-Thanksgiving Feast

Andy On Mad Max 2, did they fix the "glitch" of the R - Rated MPAA version to the International version, as in the review it came from the negative, the Kennedy - Miller - Mitchell is complete but the WB is the slightly edited version. The link below shows what they had to do to get the R ...

Re: Spielberg Remaking WEST SIDE STORY - Trailer

I noticed that on the credits too -- it's as if they want to plaster Bernstein and Sondheim's names on there so much that it adds "cred" to the project. As to why -- I think it might be contractual. It's like there's a credit for the original stage play and then they get another credit fo...

Re: Best and Worst (and maybe Guilty Favorite) Thread

OK proceed as before then :) Andyb -- what's guilty about enjoying 2001 or PATHS OF GLORY? I think most consider those to be classics. Andy I think it is because so many people I have come across think Paths is "dated & depressing" but I think it is terrific. 2001, because many these ...

Confused about Conan

Re: Blu-Ray: The Out of Print and Valuable

There was also a standalone Blu-Ray release of RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER in the UK because Universal (through ITC back catalog) controlled it (still does? who knows). Andy I think that one is still with Universal, 99% of the ITC films ended up at Granada Carlton in the never ending take overs that...

That's awesome that it includes the original publicity stills and the Annie Leibowitz portraits. Hey Paul The 6 photos with credit block are base on the photobuster set we put out for the UK, printed in Italy, there were 6 different images as shown in the Arrow press release. We also at the time ti...

Re: This Week's Column: The March Mayhem Edition

Andy Choir Boys was a hit in the UK, not too sure why but it just kept on selling & after it's first run went out many double bills & late night shows. Its last run before tape was with the Wanderers in a double bill. At some point I will re-visit this & it is certainly good that Kino lo...

Re: CROSSED SWORDS (1977) - Different Versions

Andy This was put out as The Prince and the Pauper by 20th Century Fox in Europe. It was sold along the lines of the Three and Four Musketeers films, but never really had the humour from those films. While I never had anything to do with the USA release, I do know that on “sales screenings” it was a...

German media books for trade?

My friend over in Germany has sent me 4 media book editions of blu rays that I really do not want or already have, nice gesture, but not something I want to keep. They all have an English soundtrack, but the books are in German. The titles are: Master of the World - has a BR + dvd A Star in the Dust...

Re: Corona Movie Theater Thread: 49% Say Movie Theaters Are Now "Obsolete"

Hey MJ I feel for you I really do, I was kicking around the film industry since the late 1950’s, then the “evil” was television and from that point on the cinema experience was changed forever. Yes, the studios brought in wide screen – fill the void on the stage area, then they brought in anamorphic...
