Re: KING KONG Thread

Andy The poster is a fan art design. But very good as is often the case. I worked on this for EMI for UK, Germany & France, but saw all the designs available for promotion. The Key Art was Kong on top of World Trade. There were two art work options for the plane, one very beaten up in Kong's han...

Re: Second Sight Dawn Of The Dead specs released

you will not be disappointed, it is an amazing set & really worth the price. I think the Anchor Bay set had a few more extras that have not made the port over to this edition, so I kept that as well. The copies are excellent, all three version look great. I know your sad about the cinemas being ...

Re: RIP Sean Connery

First worked with him on The Hill, found him a little difficult, but it was nice that he knew 100% what he wanted & expected out of the promotion of the film. Maybe I should not have asked him to sign my You Only Live Twice lp! Again, on The Anderson Tapes & it was a completely different exp...

Re: MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR/HAVANA, A Redford Double Header - Kino Lorber Blu-Ray Reviews

I saw The Milagro Beanfield War in the theater. I thought it was entertaining at the time, and liked the angel character, in a kind of " Bishop's Wife " way (though why did he -- and no many other characters -- have to drop f-bombs?). Paul, in Europe, we tried a couple of ways to get rid ...

Re: Oscars Mandate "Inclusion Requirements" for Best Picture Starting in 2024

The irony is, spelling it "colour" in the U.S. is technically "wrong" (it gets a "misspelling" notification while typing it out right now). :) The same way "Tyres", "Pyjamas" and "Licence" are "wrong" by our standards of spelling...

Re: Oscars Mandate "Inclusion Requirements" for Best Picture Starting in 2024

If white filmmakers making movies about "white" subject matter have to include POC in their movies, it should apply the other way. Get some random white dude in Boyz N The Hood or whatever. MJ, you rule, that is a great post & I can add to your frustration, I promoted that film ...

Re: NEEDFUL THINGS 3-Hour TV Version Coming From Koch (Germany)

If anyone is after the Koch Media edition with the TV cut in, I have a new sealed copy, I bought one & was given a second by a friend who did not like it, so I will keep their open one & let the sealed one go. It is REGION B LOCKED so if you are in North America you 100% need a multi player....

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Nothing sums up the troubled post-Bond era of '70s Connery more than THE OFFENCE! Even RANSOM (THE TERRORISTS) was better, but between those and THE ANDERSON TAPES and THE NEXT MAN...it's like he couldn't have possibly done a worse job selecting projects. Even some of the films he DID make with qua...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Hey Paul To make it seem even more strange, The Offence was 1 of 2 films Connery was guaranteed by UA for making Diamonds Are Forever. It seems it was a pet project & he was behind it 100% & I understand for the exact reason you point out, it was not Bond! I worked on this & wow did we h...

Re: GONE WITH THE WIND Pulled From HBO Max

having worked on countless re-issues of this film since the 1960's the only thing this film could be accused of is putting an audience to sleep, over use of the bathroom facilities & making people sit in some of the worse cinema chairs in history for extended periods of time!

Re: THE LAST VALLEY Blu-Ray Coming This June

Hmmm...it's hard for me to classify. It's not really a "war movie", but it isn't really like A Man For All Seasons or The Lion in Winter either. In a way it reminds me of a Kurosawa or Kobeyashi historic drama -- well-acted, and more than just a "talky", but not quite an "a...

Re: THE LAST VALLEY Blu-Ray Coming This June

For anyone who has not seen this or unsure if it is worth a purchase, I can absolutely say yes. Produced by ABC for their film division, it was sadly a massive and costly misfire, for those in the USA it was somehow parallel to the Viet Nam war and for those of us outside the USA it was so poorly ha...

Re: Amazon "Can Not Ship To United States" Tag on (Many) Media Items

Don't know if this helps but for Australia I use Sanity, link below. Wait for them to drop items in the sale & then on check out they take off the taxes, so it makes quite cheap imports for me in Canada.
