I'm not overly techno-savvy on this, but DTS has always been preferable to Dolby Digital among cinephiles. The main reason being is that DTS is supposed to be closer to the bandwith of an actual CD track. DTS tracks are less compressed than Dolby Digital, requiring more space....and all of this goe...

Re: BAD BOYS II: The Highway Chase

Just to lay some context on you, I don't like Michael Bay. It used to be just minor annoyance of his whole style over substance mantra, but the more movies he makes, each more awful than the last, it's reached a boiling point where just the mention of his name turns me off, no matter the story, no ...

Everything is going to get a remake. Hollywood has run out of ideas.

Face-Off SE, everything that gets listed in this thread, I'll probably agree with. I'll probably think of more later... Most of Paramount's first generation, bare bones DVD's need reworking. What I really like is what was done recently with the Leon and Fifth Element. Couple the amazing Superbit ver...

The movie looks abysmal. I'm TOTALLY not surprised that the score sucks, too. Andy spoke my thoughts exactly on the matter. I'm amazed at the number of people that keep putting over Badelt's Pirates score. I don't get that at all. That's one of the most blatant examples I've seen of "miscasting...

I still think this is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time and arguably one of the best scores of all time still. I watch and listen to something like this and I wonder: "How come we don't have movies like this or scores like these any longer?" The same goes for something like "R...

A little something I saw in FSM under the scoring duties. I don't know if it's a remake or what, but I huddled in a corner and cried in fear when I read this.

Robert Folk (I love this guy) scoring...a new Police Academy film.

Coming off of Road to Perdition and, to a lesser extent, Nemo, I really was expecting something good from Snicket. Instead, you have a hodge podge of oftentimes unintelligible noise that just happens to be orchestrated. This score is an example of when Newman is "off." You either like him ...

Shue is just great. Beautiful woman, good actress on the rise, under utilized. I even liked her in The Saint. She was one of the few assets in that film. She needs to be in an outright hit, A+ film again.

Out of those choices: Village SHOULD get it, Passion WILL get it. I smell politics all over the place on this thing. Might see the default to Williams for the HP score, but that would make me insane as that's not nearly an Oscar caliber score from Williams, imho. And Snicket is on there because we c...

Blown Away needs to see a legit score release of some sort ASAP. That's a damned good movie as well. There was never a score release for it that I know of for Blown Away, and that's a pity.

I've been saying this for years: All of these remakes Hollywood is doing just tell me that they've run out of GOOD ideas.

This is absolutely hideous.
