Re: rate the last movie you saw

Left Behind (2014) 6.5 of 10 -I don't know what compelled me to pick this up. I think it was because I was recently doing a re-inventory of all the Christian audio drama I have on-file which included the magnificent "Focus On The Family Radio Theatre" programs and also taking stock of wha...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

Nope. I know these people who did the Columbo stuff (Gary Gerani, Mark Dawidziak, David Koenig) and their stuff would have been strictly about the making of the show in keeping with the fine work of theirs I've read over the years. Plus, I've noticed how TV series commentaries generally stay on-topi...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

I've decided I am not going to get this when it comes out. They're going to have to knock the price down to no higher than $50 in order for me to get what I now regard as a compromised release that should have been cancelled so that commentaries could have been redone or the "technical" is...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

GORGO (1960) 8/10 Vinegar Syndrome's new 4K UHD restoration is nothing short of STUNNING, showing Technicolor hues probably unseen since its theatrical run, which means this is the first time I've experienced this 1960 monster favorite like this. The image adds immeasurably to the entertainment val...

Re: IRWIN ALLEN MASTER OF DISASTER Blu-Ray Box Set from Shout Factory

I'm situated in a relatively isolated condo complex spread out over a wide area with no businesses nearby whatsoever. The only potential thieves would have been another resident which isn't likely because I'm situated at an angle that the only residents who could have filched it would have been the ...

Re: IRWIN ALLEN MASTER OF DISASTER Blu-Ray Box Set from Shout Factory

I got gypped. I ordered from Shout. I get a notice delivery will be September 5th which was perfect because I was in Atlanta for a week from the 29th to the 5th. But guess what, the one time I did NOT want the Post Office to speed things up, they delivered it on the 1st. I got back today and yep, th...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

It's because the DVDs were so bare-bones that Columbo buffs like me were really looking forward to hearing commentaries on all 45 episodes. For me, "Columbo" is one of the best TV series of all time and deserved that kind of treatment and now it's been lost due to some idiotic "techni...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

Their first FB announcement did *not* mention the isolated music/FX tracks so Kino is to blame for making the rest of us think the last few days those were out. They might have toned down the outrage if they'd made sure to stress *only* the commentaries were impacted. Last night I had decided not to...

The art is so awful on the other 4K and Blu Ray options that I *had* to do this one.

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

Doesn't really work that way. Because the scope of this project is so vast, you really don't know what they might have an issue with. I can only imagine they did a bunch of commentaries, they didn't like this or that, too many of these tracks had issues and instead of delaying the whole set, "...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

I touched base with Gary Gerani who did a couple of them (he's needless to say quite shocked). I even offered to host the audio of what they did on Dropbox so they could be shared on the Columbo message board I've been part of for twenty years. He said he hoped he'd hear some follow-up from Kino in ...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

All I can think is it's content on the commentaries. Too bad but they must've started going through the commentary tracks and started taking apart different elements on them. Is Kino dropping the price on the set? Did Universal ever have legal issues with Falk or other elements of this show previou...

Re: COLUMBO Coming on Blu-Ray From Kino

I am furious to hear this. They've not only removed all of the commentaries, they've removed all the music/effects tracks promised and that means this is going to be as barebones a release as you can get from a company that's supposed to give us more than that (I have no interest in a shorter versio...

Re: Universal Monsters 8-Film 4K UHD Box - $46 - Aussie Import on Amazon

This is one case where an upgrade isn't worth it IMO. If they had *all* of the films from the Classic Monsters boxed set upgraded that would be different, but I'd be forced to keep the Blu-Ray versions anyway because the old boxed set has 22 more films in them.

Re: SHEILA LEVINE IS DEAD AND LIVING IN NEW YORK (1975) - Andy's Blu-Ray Review

Berlin had just one credit after this film until 1990, an episode of "Columbo" and she got it strictly through nepotism, because Peter Falk gave her mother uncredited carte blanche control over the episode in all facets which included script rewrites, gender swapping characters (and giving...
