Re: Three/Four Musketeers Blu-Ray Box $8 @ Amazon UK (Mistak

Awesome. My two copies just shipped :) Transfers sound about right at that price. I missed the SILENT RUNNING deal, but you'd have to pay me 3 pounds to sit through it again! Don't you mean $6? LOL Yeah whatever it is. All I know is it's almost double (or $1.6 for every pound) every time I look at ...

Re: GODZILLA - Both Versions - Coming From Criterion!

Yeah I've got both of those on pre-order too.

Given that it's Criterion you are almost guaranteed to get a heavy dose of political commentary, so I would probably avoid the commentary and booklet notes altogether.

Re: SCROOGE on Blu-Ray From CBS (October)

But STAR WARS and 1776 were re-cut altogether. Scenes changed, dropped, effects added in the case of the former, etc. That's a whole different sort of "compromise" than just having an Overture not included -- at least IMO. To me, instead of just accepting it, people should be contacting CB...

Re: SCROOGE on Blu-Ray From CBS (October)

As I said, if I'm not buying the SW trilogy on BD because they only include compromised versions of the film and if I didn't buy the official DVD of "1776" I can't even begin to rationalize the changes in STAR WARS or the total re-editing of 1776 with an Overture simply being excluded. Th...

Re: SCROOGE on Blu-Ray From CBS (October)

Just became a no-sale for me. If they aren't going to do this right and include EVERYTHING, then it's worthless IMO especially when the format is just as convenient for me in regular DVD. My standard has always been to take something that looks somewhat less visually if it's uncut over something cu...

Re: TINTIN and the Case of Diminishing Expectations

Sounds like I'm going to definitely wait for Blu-Ray...no good reason why it had to be motion-capped? We could've told them that ahead of time! http://www.totalfilm.com/reviews/cinema/the-adventures-of-tintin-the-secret-of-the-unicorn 3/5 It’s Indiana Jones but, you know, for kids Before he died in ...

Re: SCROOGE on Blu-Ray From CBS (October)

Transfer on this is exquisite! Colors, details, everything looks natural and sharper than I've ever seen before, with no processing thrown on top of it. The Overture is NOT there, though the Exit Music is. Considering I grew up on the movie's TV showings where I saw neither (or the scene with Scroog...

Re: TWILIGHT ZONE New Movie Set - DiCaprio Producing

"A big science fiction action film"? That's THE TWILIGHT ZONE? lol. And I dont quite understand why they're even making this if it's just one, standalone story -- how is it any different than any Shyamalan film then? We know there's going to be a twist in the end (book it now!). EXCLUSIVE:...

Re: Weekend Box Office 10/16 - "Remake Fail" X2

Good thing THE THING's budget was only $35 million... That's it? Did they film the whole movie against a green screen? Actually no, no green-screen in this one. It was shot in British Columbia. The budget was low because there's nobody in it, it didnt have expensive writers/director and the CGI eff...

Re: Weekend Box Office 10/16 - "Remake Fail" X2

Those estimates are apparently high. THE THING is only expected to do $9 million (maybe less), and A BIG YEAR is going to go down as one of the weakest national openings from a major studio in forever.

Weekend Box Office 10/16 - "Remake Fail" X2

Hollywood is apparently worried after another awful box-office weekend is on tap. I mean come on people -- start giving us a REASON to go to the movies again and we might show up! Good thing THE THING's budget was only $35 million...they're likely to end up losing even on that end. Of course the ori...

GODZILLA - Both Versions - Coming From Criterion!

Love that they've done an HD mastering of the American GODZILLA too. This is going to be the first must Blu Ray of 2012! GODZILLA – BD & DVD Ishiro Honda’s Godzilla is the roaring granddaddy of all monster movies. It’s also a remarkably humane and melancholy drama made in Japan at a time when th...

Re: THE THING Trailer - Remake City After All

Truth be told Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one of the few reasons I do want to see the movie...but it still looks like the same scenes from the Carpenter movie just reworked under the guise of a "prequel" when it's really more of a remake.
