Re: Paramount Delays All Major Releases Into 2022

Can't do anything without a car. I am legally blind and haven't driven a car since 2003. If I want to get somewhere on my own, I have to either use my bike, Uber/Lyft or public transportation. I've found that if your will is strong enough, you will find a way to get to where you want to go. Before ...

Re: Paramount Delays All Major Releases Into 2022

I think it's too late. The art of movie going was dying before COVID because of garbage content. Many people are happy sitting at home now...I doubt a group of half baked franchise revivals and B team Marvel heroes are going to bring it all back to what it was. "Going to the movies" as an...

Re: STORY OF A WOMAN (1971) - Andy's Blu-Ray Review - Great John Williams Score!

The music in the YouTube clip reminds me of Williams' score to Jane Eyre.

Andy, did you get a review copy of The Screaming Woman from Kino? I know that also has an early Williams score.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I haven't seen TAKE THE MONEY... in years but I've always remembered the bit with the illegible holdup note. "I have a gub."

Re: Read a Book, then Watch Its Movie!

If you're looking for other Agatha Christie book recommendations, I read Death on the Nile earlier this year as part of a book club. (Haven't seen the 70s movie). It has an unusually long set-up but is a quick read and very enjoyable. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is also excellent. The less you read ...

Re: Kino June Swoon Sale

Placed my order:

The Night Stalker (got The Night Strangler during the last sale)

The Audie Murphy Collection

The Day the Earth Caught Fire (what it feels like right now both in Texas and in Nevada where I'm visiting my parents)

Hell in the Pacific

Re: Star Trek I-IV on 4K UHD This Fall

I'm glad to read that Andy likes the ST 4 music. It may not be as good as what Goldsmith did on 1 and 5, or as good as Horner's work on 2 but I still like it and never understood the dislike for it. As far as Part 3 goes, I agree that overall the score is underwhelming although I do like the Stealin...

Re: HDR flicker watching 4K movies

Well, I think I've solved the problem. I tested other 4K discs I own. 2001 looked perfectly fine. Mission Impossible 4 had some slight issues with the HDR getting dim and light. The menu screen for Superman was the worst with the image constantly shifting. I tried switching video settings to see if ...

HDR flicker watching 4K movies

I was watching 1917 tonight on a 4K disc and throughout the movie, a certain portion of the screen would go in and out of full HDR resolution. It was the same part of the screen and the same exact shape would get dark and then get light to match the rest of the image. I've seen this happen before, b...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Every so often I get the urge to rewatch a bunch of movies from the same year. It helps keep my movie watching consistent and I've found I can remember what I've seen better when there's a pattern I follow. Anyway, recently I've watched movies from 1997, mostly from the early summer. Here's a quick ...

Re: Corona Movie Theater Thread: 49% Say Movie Theaters Are Now "Obsolete"

Read today that the Alamo Drafthouse near me is tentatively re-opening in June. It would be nice to see The Conjuring 3 in a theater. I find horror movies work much better for me that way. Not sure if I want to wear a mask in the theater. I guess I could continuously order popcorn refills to always ...

Re: Commentary Tracks - The Good, The Bad & The Unlistenable

I watched Billy the Kid Versus Dracula last night on the Kino blu-ray. The movie is entertainingly cheesy but the commentary is just plain bad. It's two guys who seem very enthusiastic about the movie and are excited to tell you all about it but then they start rattling off endless lists of other mo...

It's been a while but I think it's more cringe inducing than laugh out loud (unintentionally) funny.

Re: Disney Sets NATIONAL TREASURE TV Series With "Latina DREAMer" Lead and her "Diverse Group of Friends"

Wouldn't it be something if this whole Anschluss of woke and bad entertainment causes people to revert back to manual forms of activity again. Hell, because of this woke stuff and the lockdowns, I've gotten back into Amateur Radio, Scanners, Electronics, and other projects that I'd probably not com...

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

Are you sure the complete run of LOVE BOAT is on Paramount +? I subscribe through Prime Video and there are multiple episodes missing. For example, I only see 15 episodes available for season 9.
