Re: PAN - Taking on Water? Moved to October
So many inexplicable creative choices...why is Hugh Jackman's Blackbeard introduced singing "Smells Like Teen Spirit"(!) in a movie set during WWII? Why is there not a single musical number after that? Why do the pirates shoot weapons that turn people into brightly-colored clouds of smoke...

Re: CES 2016 - Samsung UBD-K8500 No Region Coding?
This is the main reason to own a movie on a physical disc as opposed to streaming it...once you buy it, it's yours forever to do with as you please. I can stream The X-Files on Netflix, but who knows how long they'll keep it? I now own the series on Blu-Ray, and can watch any episode I want whenever...

Re: HATEFUL EIGHT and REVENANT - not interested
I cut my teeth on celluloid, but am with you -- I'm totally sold on digital photography / cinematography at this point. There were some rough-looking movies during that early-mid 00s "transition" period when filmmakers were testing out the limits of digital cameras (and I can't for the li...

Re: HATEFUL EIGHT and REVENANT - not interested
The Revenant : 10/10 MAGNIFICENT...maybe the most beautifully-shot movie in the past ten years (and on digital cameras, which proves, no matter what the celluloid holdouts like Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan claim, can look every bit as good as film). I'm a sucker for a good "Man vs. ...

My Boyfriend's Back is being released on BD, but I still can't get Kenneth Branagh's excellent Dead Again.

Re: HATEFUL EIGHT and REVENANT - not interested
Hateful Eight (in 70MM): 9/10 Tarantino movies are like oysters...so long as you have a predilection for them, you know you're gonna like the new one. I loved the hell out of this (only Inside Out have I liked more at the movies this year), and seeing it projected large and in charge is one of the ...

Re: DUNKIRK - Christopher Nolan WWII Drama - July 2017
I for one am looking forward to this score....all 140 minutes of it on 2 CDs. "This food is terrible! And such small portions!" Remember, twenty years ago, when everyone would grouse about Varese albums that ran 30 minutes? Now we get every last damn note, but so little if it is worth lis...

Just find it odd that every new Nolan movie expands by approximately fifteen minutes.

Wonder if this will be the first Nolan movie to crack the three-hour mark.
