There is some fluff, but not too bad. It's not like some of the Marvel docs.
I enjoyed seeing George Lucas himself speak pretty candidly (and looking in better shape- he lost a few pounds in the neck area!). The archival footage of him at ILM during the early days is pretty interesting.

Re: Disney+ Light and Magic
I'm about half way through this show- it's pretty good. For an official show, they delve into the negative parts of ILM more than I expected. The behind the scenes stuff is great. I have all the ILM books, and there is so much never touched on, that they talk about. I do wish they spent more time on...

Marcel, the Shell with Shoes On. 9/10 A very sweet, hilarious, suprisingly emotional movie about a small shell with one googly-eye and small sneakers (!). Based on the very funny youtube shorts, I went out of my way to see this as our local Alamo isn't playing it. The animation (stop-motion), is so...

Re: RIP David Warner
One of my favorite voices- I was glad to see him pop up in Mary Poppins Returns a while ago. And of course to me, he will always be "The Lobe", from my favorite 90s cartoon "Freakazoid. ab18880cbf34f906cb319536f35433baba7c901a87b01e5346318b5a29b439e7.jpg Excuse the poor quality, but t...

Re: Bond Films Return to Cinemas in the UK
I saw From Russia With Love about 7-8 years ago at our local Alamo. It was fun to see one of the better Bonds so big!
They also had a local jazz band playing covers of Bond songs as a pre-show, which I wish would happen again

A lot of them come and go on Amazon Prime. Haven't heard anything about seeing them on the big screens though.

Re: Me namesake gets shafted
I watched this with my 10 year old. He wasn't impressed, but I think I'm the target audience. I was more of a Ducktales/TailSpin fan, but I did watch Rescue Rangers growing up. I thought it was pretty good, much better than I expected. The mix of animation styles was a delight, even if the fake hand...

Re: Theo Cinema: ATLANTIS - THE LOST EMPIRE (WOEFULLY Bad)
Hey, I like Atlantis. Sure the plot doesn't make much sense (why would the Atlanteans forget how to read, when the people who live there were alive when it sank? Nobody just forgets how to read as they get older.). I love the character designs (well, most of them)- the bad guys have a cool angular l...

Re: Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - Official Trailer
Good trailer. Nice to see the bad guy from the first movie is back. I appreciate that the M:I movies always look pretty real. Obviously there are tons of FX, but they look like they exist in our world, versus Dr. Strange for example, which has the first scene showing such bad cgi it made me cringe. ...

Re: RETURN OF THE JEDI - Another Viewing, Another Chance to Analyze What Went Wrong
I honestly don’t really have an opinion on which “Ewok Celebration” cue is better — I like the original film version and the re-score in the special edition. (I do not like the silly album version with the Ewoks singing however!). I always enjoyed the Charles Gerhardt rerecording of the ewok song t...

Re: RETURN OF THE JEDI - Another Viewing, Another Chance to Analyze What Went Wrong
I agree with everything said above. Not as good as the first 2, but still a fun movie. The FX are great. One thing that always stands out to me is the space battle over Endor. The amount of moving ships still is impressive- that shot of all the tie fighters racing towards the camera is a delight. I ...

Re: Movie Nights w/the Nephew thread
I just watched Superman, my 4th grader wandered in and out while playing legos. Said it was too cheesy. Hurt my feelings! Once I told him the movie was older than me he changed his tune a bit, but I don't think it'll ever be one he'll want to watch again. One of the top five Williams' scores in my b...

Re: TAKING OF PELHAM 1-2-3 Coming to 4K UHD
Man, I just bought this on blu-ray a few months ago! Great movie, great cast, great score, great plot, and a great final shot! Not that I was ever there, but when I think of NYC in the 70s, THIS is how I picture it. The city looks dirty, but not too scummy. All the bit players seem like real people....

Re: Kino "March into April" sale
Not Kino, but Warner Archive is having a 4 for 49 (which is not as good as their old sales, but still decent) at https://www.moviezyng.com/.
I got a few movies, all cheaper than I've seen anywhere else:
The Hudsucker Proxy
A Night at the Opera (Marx Bros)
Supergirl
and the final 3 Thin Man movies
