Furthermore, you have a problem with my POV because you've actually seen this movie and disagree with it, or you're just applying it in general as if I review every action film that way? If you were a regular reader of my 12 years of columns, you would know the latter is not the case, and that I ta...

Up excites me more than Star Trek and Terminator combined.

Sure the movie has some drawbacks, and Bale is clearly cashing the check, but for goodness sakes, it's a piece of escapist entertainment, not Shakespeare, so I even forgive him for that. This movie is a solid sci-fi summer action movie. It's silly but there is a plot, there's not enough character d...

Im very positive about STAR TREK too... as Im not a comic book reader or at least not a superhero reader I dont expect high art and there are certainly many comic books which are just silly, yet the readers think a film of it would be the best thing ever... still, WOLVERINE was really really awful....

A Very Brady Sequel - if you get the chance, rent this. The main flaw is there isn't much of a story, but the character interpretations are quite funny. I thought this sequel was terrific. Whereas the first film had a little too much of an edge and is actually as dated now for its '90s grunge "...

Most all of sequel/prequel buzz exists in desperation. The monetary prosperity is nice, but as usual artistic integrity loses.

Inland Empire

I've gotta give Lynch his due. I don't understand the entire premise. It's about getting out of the movie's curse. But I like what an Amazoner said about what he accomplished: it was the most horrific thing he'd ever seen without it ever delving into blood & guts. A good amount of his stuff I do...

I refuse to allow these types of films to take my modest, hard-earned dollars (at least until I can rent them for a buck at the Redbox machine at work). I'm with you on that front. I physically go to the movies a LOT less than I once did -- during the summer my wife and I like going out, so sometim...

I'm afraid I really don't recommend this movie. The first act on earth is nicely handled. From then on the movie goes into a 'warp speed' with the plot to where all the starfighter has to do is shoot up the baddies but without the challenge. Its just far too easy for the protagonist.

It's about an art critic or something who walks around a very large museum and critics the painting to someone who's walking with I think. It maybe has a period change to it, so when the critic talks, small events around him change to fit the period being discussed. I may be off on that part. I thin...

long live VHS

I've been buying up copies of old Doctor Who. I have to say I'm just not ready to pay $18-20 for many of the DVD titles. I just cannot do it yet, so I buy the VHS at half the price so for now I can see some episodes I haven't seen in 20+ years. But some of the older titles are only on VHS, and one i...
