TV > film

I think film gets this sort of upper class treatment, but I think tv overall is the more creative outlet. I think though it's more by chance since with film it's one-and-out, where in tv a producer doesn't lose all their eggs on one weekly rating. So the groundbreaking or risk taking is probably mor...

Some think the technology's that much better. Others don't think the quality is enough better to warrant the extra price. What's your opinion?

I'm pretty convinced there IS going to be a plot. What concerns me more is Abrams' direction, whether it's going to have size and scope or is going to feel like a TV-movie the way MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 did, in spite of its huge budget. That's cool, I guess...but it would be kinda neat to ditch the w...

-- One night, as Mrs. Filthy and I were boarding the Cyclone, one of the riders getting off told the crew they saw a big hole in the track. While we sat in the coast, a maintenance guy was summoned. He pulled out a flashlight, walked around a little bit, shrugged and said, "I didn't see anythin...

I get the impression this movie is going to make acres of cash -- even if it's only decent. Heck even IRON MAN -- a Marvel "B" comic book by most measures -- did $300 million domestic. There's this incredible lust for TREK from fans, which would get them out away, but this movie is being ...

Yes Man

I saw this just made it to DVD. I was thinking this was a great idea 10 years ago around the time of Liar Liar. I read the brief plot, and I thought it would've worked better mixed with a 'corporate world' idea. Oh well...

Filthy reviews

http://www.bigempire.com/filthy/ (excerpt) What sucks, though, is how fucking formulaic the rest of the story is. The monsters team up, they are in peril, they destroy the aliens and they become heroes who can walk amongst polite society once again. None of the aliens has much personality. Well, the...

And how do you change that? By buying MORE tickets? C'mon... I can only speak for myself, and my view is that you either boycott everything or live with it and acknowledge that it's not an accurate portrayal of what most Americans are like. Michael Medved wrote an excellent book years ago on the su...

That's easier said than done if you happen to be struggling financially to make ends meet. But since their tax dollars happen to fund the inadequacies of the public school system, it seems to me that the civic institutions they end up funding are the ones in need of some accountability of their own...

Again, it became that way because consumers allowed it to happen. You've decided according to your faith that you can no longer support that type of programming. But others continue to support the programming. Until that changes, there isn't a reason for the industry to change. I'm not sure I agree...

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Why do people like this film? I liked the love interest. They had a great chemistry, but the family cliches I thought were dumb.

Vouchers and school choice for those who can't instinctively afford access to better schools than the worthlessness of the taxpayer funded public school system is not "socialism." However, politicians who vote against opportunities to expand choice opportunities to the lower class because...

I have never used the term "ban". I have merely referred to how the elites of our entertainment industry have lost their compass and made what society once had the common sense to regard as beyond the pale or the mark of bad behavior acceptable while stigmitizing those who don't accept th...

If you wanna change that moral outlook, then educate.. It becomes more and more difficult though to "educate" when we increasingly find that the elites of this world in the political realm (not to mention activist judges sympathetic to this elite) make it more and more impossible for us t...
