Have to disagree with you on GHOST AND THE DARKNESS, Roman. The script may be "aged" but to me that's part of its charm -- it's very old fashioned, like it could have been made the same way decades before. Very entertaining, and I also liked Goldsmith's score just fine. The way the score o...

I can say that I did enjoy JUDGMENT NIGHT and thought GHOST AND THE DARKNESS was really underrated (though I hated -- HATED!! -- Hopkins' LOST IN SPACE movie).

Mike,
Warner's official press release says only that it will have English and French 5.1 tracks, sadly.

Looks like a great Special Edition -- unfortunately it's being handled by a PR firm that hasn't been of much help to me in the past, so I may have to buy it myself ;)

Cheers,
Andy

I just checked and IMDB lists "Ring"/"Dark Water" director Hideo Nakata as being the director of an American remake of........THE ENTITY! A good choice for that movie, though I hope it's better than the original, which I coincidentally watched last summer for the first time. Pret...

Neo -- good point on FATAL FRAME. I actually have it for Xbox but have yet to play it (someday!), and I think you're totally dead on about the concepts of Japanese cinematic horror. They do, as you said, fall into their own trap, though on the other hand, I applaud their general lack of gore and att...

I read that also about the scenes "designed to tell [stupid] Americans about supernatural concepts" -- which I find utterly ludicrous. So they mean Western audiences actually demand a STORY and plot that has some kind of depth to it?? At least Western ghost stories usually have some...

Hey Neo, I've seen those AMC MONSTERFEST DVD comps -- I was under the assumption they're legit, because all the movies on them (as well as all the other AMC branded cheap DVD compilations) are public domain titles. I didn't think Vol. 3 was any different...same rules apply to all those flicks. Maybe...

TRON 2?? Unfortunately, it's NOT a sequel....

...but another god-damned remake!! WHY?!?!?! I mean, for crying out loud, how 'bout a sequel?? Here's the Moviehole.com scoop: ------------ A couple of years ago it was rumoured that a sequel to "Tron" might be in the works. Strong DVD sales for the original and a popular computer-game alm...

PHANTASM is owned by MGM in the States, so that would explain the lack of a Special Edition. It's funny -- most of the different "Special Editions" come in Dino DeLaurentiis movies. Since he owns the international rights, you see a LOT of varying DVD versions of his movies around the world...

That CREEPSHOW 2 Special Edition *is* available in the U.S., Roman. They re-released it as a "Divimax" edition at some point in September. AB just signed a deal with Fox to release some of their older library titles (like they did with Buena Vista back in the early days of the DVD format)....

Cruise and Spielberg were just in Connecticut to shoot at an old factory -- the story ran yesterday in the local papers up here (I forgot the name of the town). Apparently they wanted an old New England-esque mill/factory of some kind, I'm guessing for the scenes when Cruise and Co. flee out of the ...

I like LXG. Unashamedly. You watch that movie and you just see untapped potential all over it and that makes it frustrating, but it has a lot of good things going for it, and I think it's going to have a much better existence on DVD than it ever did in the theaters. Worth checking out! And Trevor J...

Here's a pic of Dakota Fanning running around: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?g=events/en/120104warofworlds&a=&tmpl=sl&ns=0&l=1&e=1&t=&prev=2 At least they're doing a lot of outdoor, more rural location shooting (upstate NY, Shenandoah Valley in Va., etc.), so it sounds...
