Re: THOR 2 Coming July 2013; Branagh Not Returning

Branagh is planning to return to the BBC series Wallander. Six feature length episodes are planned. Branagh, who portrays Kurt Wallander in the BBC adaption, will direct and produce an upcoming film based on Italian Shoes. The film will probably star Anthony Hopkins as Fredrik Welin. Filming will m...

Re: PROMETHEUS - Ridley Scott's "ALIEN" Prequel - New Detail

Damon Lindelof also on record now saying this movie is indeed ALIEN related -- seems to me they just want to distance themselves from the ALIEN 3, ALIEN RESURRECTION and ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movies....can't blame them there. Here's an interview from last week: It started as an Alien prequel as that's ...

Re: PROMETHEUS - Ridley Scott's "ALIEN Prequel?" 2012

Ridley Scott talks about the movie in a new interview here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ridley-scott-michael-fassbender-noomi-206321 Director Ridley Scott and stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace touched down at CineEurope Tuesday night to fire up enthusiasm among European exhibitors ...

THOR 2 Set for 11/15/13 - Patty Jenkins Directing

Well that's a fast turnaround! Branagh's not coming back though. That said, it's all good with me...THOR is quite possibly one of my fave super-hero films (and likely this year's highest grossing genre film too). UPDATE: Disney has set a July 26, 2013 release date for Thor 2. EARLIER EXCLUSIVE: Marv...

Re: LOTR Extended Edition coming to Blu at last

Thanks Michael! It's a really nice set...just unfortunate they didn't put the extras in HD too (or put them on a Blu-Ray disc to save on packaging).

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Just a couple of quick reviews -- THE WARRIORS WAY 6.5/10 Not terrible, green-screen-rendered "ninja western" (which bombed at the box-office last December) marked by impressive, colorful cinematography (at least this movie isn't afraid to use primary colors the way 300, Sin City, etc. all...

Re: CARS 2 - Pixar Hits the Bottom of the Barrel

Talking about sell outs, how about the confirmation TOY STORY 4 is happening? So Pixar's upcoming slate is now MONSTERS INC. 2 (or MONSTERS INC 0 if you will), TOY STORY 4 and next year's BRAVE, which some have already pegged as "Mulan in Scotland," about a "fierce Scottish lass who d...

Re: Michael Bay Pleads for Brightness in 3-D TF3 Exhibitions

Are the reviews better than the last one? I guess...but that's also faint, damning praise. BTW, is Hollywood ever going to learn that Shia LeBouf isn't the reason anyone goes to see his movies -- that he keeps getting cast in pre-built franchises and that's why people go? That guy has absolutely ZER...

Re: New Making of JAWS Book -- WOW

I will Eric! Joanne only placed the order a couple of weeks ago though, so it'll be interesting to see how many they've moved in the interim. I really can't wait. This is, singularly, my all time favorite movie. It does not surprise me that certain elements in the film came about not because they we...

Re: New Making of JAWS Book -- WOW

Joanne ordered me a copy for our anniversary :) but it hasn't shown up yet...something tells me they're shipping these out slowly in the order they received them so I'm not worried...yet anyway. Looking forward to reading it.

Re: Michael Bay Pleads for Brightness in 3-D TF3 Exhibitions

The two reasons Bay is concerned btw: 1. Paramount is strong-arming theater chains into showing the movie in 3-D. Like THOR, if you want to see it in 2-D, you're going to have a hard time. (There's a good article on this at Deadline, noting CAPTAIN AMERICA will be the same): http://www.deadline.com/...

Michael Bay Pleads for Brightness in 3-D TF3 Exhibitions

Have to say I think the cat is out of the bag on this one. This note from Michael Bay seems to indicate it as well. 3-D has killed Hollywood this summer to a degree and Bay can thank his studio brethren for over-exposing, over-indulging, over-inflating ticket prices. Bay has a point about brightness...

More accurate numbers are in. That GREEN LANTERN 66% drop is as bad as it gets. DOA. 1. Cars 2 3D (Pixar/Disney) NEW [4,115 Theaters] Friday $25.7M, Saturday $23.5M, Weekend $67M 2. Bad Teacher (Sony) NEW [3,049 Theaters] Friday $12.1M, Saturday $10.8M, Weekend $31M 3. Green Lantern 3D (Warner Bros)...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

http://www.impawards.com/1979/posters/meatballs.jpg 8/10 It's been a long, long time since I've seen MEATBALLS, and since Joanne had never seen it, she chose it as our "flashback movie of the week" of sorts. I was actually delighted because I didn't just find the movie to be as good as my...
