Re: THE FURY - UK Special Edition Blu-Ray

Yes that synth is the most "70s sounding" synth in any Williams score, ever, I'd imagine! I'm also glad he re-recorded that score in London. Why didn't he record it in London to begin with? THE FURY was a pretty big budgeted movie for Fox, I would've thought they might've had rolled out the...

Re: THE FURY - UK Special Edition Blu-Ray

Had the urge to check this out again, and Arrow's disc, while a decade old now, holds up well. Certainly better than the Twilight Time disc which is also OOP and commands top dollar (Arrow's is OOP also but doesn't run quite as high). This movie is entertaining but John Williams' score for this movi...

Reviews are all over the place...some good ones...and then Indiewire which called it the biggest letdown of the summer and trashed it.

MARIE: A TRUE STORY (1985) - Andy's Warner Archive Review

8/10 Though Dino DeLaurentiis was often associated with big, sprawling genre movies like “King Kong” and “Conan,” he also produced a series of effective dramatic pictures on a much smaller scale. Among them were no less than four adaptations of books by New York City journalist/writer Peter Maas, in...

THE STARS FELL ON HENRIETTA (1995) - Andy's Warner Archive Review

5/10 What looked on paper like it was going to be a prestige release for Warner Bros. and producer Clint Eastwood, THE STARS FELL ON HENRIETTA (110 mins., 1995, PG) was basically banished to a token release in select markets in September 1995 before debuting on home video where it disappeared with b...

She is not smart but also emboldened. A really bad combination. Can't wait to see her and Gal on the press junket when this comes up.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

THE BIKERIDERS 6/10 Moody, uneven yet moderately entertaining period look at a Midwestern motorcycle club, from its relatively humble beginnings as a social hangout for its married founding member (Tom Hardy) to its recruitment of young riders (Austin Butler) through its eventual downfall when it be...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Interestingly Warner doesn't have rights to the movie anymore. Icon must've gotten them back as they are now listed with Samuel Goldwyn (which is not coincidentally also the current distributor of APOCALYPTO). Perhaps they'll finally release the movie on Blu-Ray, though there is a very inexpensive, ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I picked up the Vudu stream of that one a while ago, and it's probably time for a rewatch. I always loved the Maine locations in and around the Rockport area, many of which are easy to find, and which I remember visiting with my wife before Theo was born (2011-13 or so). I missed the movie when it f...

Re: Disney's SNOW WHITE Pushed to 2025; Dwarves Return!

  OMG that's... horrible. They really do look like Alfred E. Newman!! Good to see Bob Iger did what he ALWAYS does at D23 when Disney is struggling -- doubles down on a FULL RUN of sequels. Zootopia, Moana, Incredibles, Avatar, Toy Story...announces Downey's stunt casting for another Aveng...

Re: Kerri Green alert...!

Theo will be happy, he loves this movie  This film was so obviously shot fast and on the fly...it's barely in the 80 minute zone before the credits roll...and they must've cut a ton of stuff that didn't work (hello, John Larroquette!). But it has its moments and Alan Silvestri's score, which I ...

Re: Seriously? VHS is making a comeback?

Resolution was MUCH higher on laserdisc than VHS -- nearly 2X as much.
Laserdisc has a horizontal resolution of 425 television lines (TVL) for NTSC and 440 TVL for PAL discs, while VHS featured only 240 TVL with NTSC

That's basically the gist of it. Though they go one step further and basically end where FURY ROAD starts.
