Confirmed -- Friday's opening was the 2nd highest single day take EVER, trailing only Episode III. Tracking indicates it could make up to $150 million over the weekend. DA VINCI also lost a huge amount of its first-weekend take and MI3 and POSEIDON look like they're both pretty much done do...

I'm a born again Christian and love film scores as well as some Christian music. I can understand his points about music glorifying God vs not glorifying God, and film music isn't going to save anyone or bring anyone into a saving relationship with Jesus, but his "essay" is a bit too rant...

$#@%!!! I left before the credits ended too. of course I was in a bad mood because I yelled at some stupid kids (who should have been in school -- this was a Friday matinee) for blocking the projector with their hands during the end credits. In any case WHY do they have to add scenes at the end of ...

I like Powell. Score is pretty good, imo.

I am not sure where the Hateorade is coming in for this film. I liked it at least as much as I liked Xmen 2, which I felt was good solid fun.

I guess I'll treat this the same way I have Gladiator.

I still watch the earlier DVD of Gladiator because it has DTS and the newer one does not. However, I still bought that newer Gladiator for all the specials.

I'll simply do the same here. :)

I know what Carlson's talking about here and I agree with him...especially after reading Widescreen Review issue 109 for June 2006 that just came out. I always recommend this magazine to everyone anyways...but Carlson, this one's for you especially. You NEED to read this issue, especially the articl...

Exactly right. I don't know how anyone could complain about that.

Re: Weekend Box-Office 5/14: A Sinking Ship Indeed

FRIDAY estimates -- and they're not pretty  Is POSEIDON on track to be this year's version of KINGDOM OF HEAVEN? Given its budget, bad reviews, and what looks like a tepid opening, I'd say it's bad news all the way around. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 - MI3 7.6 POSEIDON 7.2 RV 2.3 JUST MY LUCK 2.0 ...

I do think they should hold onto Williams' themes, but as for Williams himself, it seems that he's determined to do what he originally said he wanted to do with the first Star wars trilogy - write enough thematic material so he could hand the series over to another composer a la Ken Thorne and Supe...

Anyone else notice that Josh Lucas is starting to approximate Colin Farrell as the new formula for box-office poison? I'm not a huge fan of Lucas -- in fact he comes across as a sub-McConaughey without his charisma -- and if this tanks it'll be another huge blockbuster in a row (after STEALTH) that...

I've been enjoying Powell's music ever since Face Off, so I've been looking forward to this score, not to mention the movie itself.

I think all of these movies are going to underperform for the same reasons that have been in play: 1.) Movie tickets are rip offs. The peripheral costs are arguably an even bigger rip off. (Food, drinks, parking.) 2.) Rude people in pubic. Fact of life but when you combine this with number one and y...
