Re: Martin Scorsese's 3-D Children's Movie - HUGO....Huh??

I'm with you all the way on that. The whole visual design of this film looks atrocious. Did he shoot it all in Rome on one set? lol. Is Robbie Robertson scoring the film? Between Spielberg doing TINTIN and Scorsese doing HUGO it could be a very depressing end of the year for these veteran directors....

Martin Scorsese's 3-D Children's Movie - HUGO....Huh??

What a horrible week for movie trailers. This one is especially incomprehensible too...Martin Scorsese doing a 3-D children's movie with Sasha Baron Cohen flailing around with slapstick in a train station? And Jude Law (shades of AI -- shudder) bringing in some robot contraption for his son? Is ther...

Re: THE THING Trailer - Remake City After All

I grant you -- it looks better than FRIGHT NIGHT. I like that they've paid proper tribute to Carpenter's film -- which wasn't even a success in 1982 -- but I don't get why they're saying it's a prequel when it looks just like a remake. Then again, after seeing the trailers for JOHN CARTER and this S...

Re: John Carter - Trailer.

Animation and live-action are two different things though. That trailer gives off a strong COWBOYS AND ALIENS vibe...I don't find the visual scheme appealing whatsoever and it's an Edgar Rice Burroughs sci-fi fantasy that OUGHT to have a unique look to it. Instead it looks like every other movie out...

THE THING Trailer - Remake City After All

I'm disappointed -- this looks like a straight-up remake of the original movie, with individual shots stolen right out of the 1982 film, just with CGI now instead of Bottin's make-up. I'm still going, but this looks like it's being aimed at people who never saw the 1982 film as opposed to being this...

Not sure what I was expecting, but it looks like PRINCE OF PERSIA 2 by way of STARGATE. The guy's costume looks just like Gyllenhaal's!

Unimpressive...

Re: My First Blu-Ray Player!

I'm trying to keep this thread current Eric -- all the current retailer (BB, Walmart, etc) exclusives are listed in it. http://andyfilm.com/mboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3379 Does the Blu Ray player have an HDMI out to the TV? The larger your set, the better when it comes to being able to appreciat...

DAMNATION ALLEY Stupendous on Blu!

Wow, what an unbelievably, enjoyably bad movie -- and what a great Blu-Ray! Shout did a better job with this transfer than other, major studios have done with classic films on Blu-Ray...figures DAMNATION ALLEY gets one of the best catalog transfers I've ever seen! Great disc too with enjoyable extra...

GODZILLA Sets David Goyer to Write Script

I'm guessing we'll be getting the David Goyer of BLADE TRINITY, GHOST RIDER, FLASH FORWARD, THE INVISIBLE, etc. and not the same guy who's worked with Christopher Nolan. And what's up with this line -- Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible ? ...

Re: Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) Heading to Blu-ray

But even there you can't do what the old Criterion Laser Disc could do which was let you program the ability to see ALL the footage from the 77 and 80 versions in one sitting. No, but they easily could have if Spielberg wanted you to. As it is, the CE3K Blu-Ray has all 3 versions on there so you ca...

I wasn't crazy about the first film, so I'm hoping this one is better.

Can't say I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan either for that matter.

Re: George C. Scott Watches the New Adam Sandler Trailer

The only Sandler film I genuinely liked was The Wedding Singer, which had some legitimate laughs and kind of relaunched Drew's entire career. Beyond that, Happy Gilmore had its moments -- but it was all downhill for me after that point, and he's been turning out a film a year since then (at least!)....

Re: George C. Scott Watches the New Adam Sandler Trailer

I can't vouch for the inexplicable success of PAUL BLART, but that comedy looks like Preston Sturges compared to JACK AND JILL.

This may be, finally, the movie where Sandler bottoms out. We can only hope!

BTW that scene in HARDCORE was hilarious by itself.
