Re: 4th of July Box-Office

It's running, I think they said, 28% under TF2 for the first few days -- and that's WITH 3-D, which it didn't have before.

So it's big, but it's not massive.

Obviously we'll have to see how it holds up for the next few weekends.

Not great...decent romp, that's about it.
Yeah totally agree.

The Rock is in this one too, which will help boost grosses. Bruce Willis would be another nice addition.

Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts Movie, LARRY CROWNE, Bombs

I love the comment "who the ---- wants to see Tom Hanks, who just bought a $26 million house, play one of the “regular” folks getting laid off from a big box store? I wonder how he got into character…did he go around the Valley, asking people “what it’s like living with no dreams in an economic...

Re: New Making of JAWS Book -- WOW

And I have to admit given the presentation of material, I'm more relieved having a hardcover version because a softcover one would get a broken spine very quickly from me! The hardcover was the whole reason I wanted the LE myself. The DVD and the hull fragment -- nice to have, but not worth the ext...

Re: New Making of JAWS Book -- WOW

I'll post some more when I get a chance to look through it this weekend. My initial impression is just what you said Eric -- it's even more impressive, comprehensive and beautifully designed than I ever expected. The information covered, the pictures they included, the mix of old articles with new i...

Re: New Making of JAWS Book -- WOW

Got here! #980! I'm surprised they haven't made mention that they're close to moving the 1000 copy allotment...unless they're just going to do another run perhaps? Fantastic package. Can't wait to sit down this weekend (how appropriate on the 4th of July!) and enjoy it, along with watching m...

Super-Hero Summer Box-Office Scorecard

Thought it would be interesting to see how all of these films fared, keeping in mind GREEN LANTERN is only starting to roll out overseas (though it's not playing well where it DID open; its domestic gross isn't going to generate a lot more either). X-MEN has opened in most international markets by t...

Re: G.I. JOE 2 - Adrienne Palicki New Female Lead

How am I not surprised you hated it? ;) I moderately liked it the same way I've liked some of Sommers' movies like THE MUMMY -- no-brain, watchable summer escapist fare for kids. Movies based on childhood toys frequently don't inspire intelligent cinematic fare... and we're two decades outside its t...

G.I. JOE 2 - Adrienne Palicki New Female Lead

...well this should help off-set the WONDER WOMAN disappointment :) Sounds like this sequel is getting a full makeover, which isn't surprising since the first movie was just okay (not nearly as bad as some people said; hell I liked it better than both Transformers movies). What IS surprising is how ...

Re: THOR 2 Coming July 2013; Branagh Not Returning

Hopefully he'll stay on as producer so Doyle will return to score it. Fat chance. We'll no doubt be getting a Hans Gregson-Jablonsky Thor score in two years. :( Looks like he's settling into a "genre groove" though with Thor & Planet of the Apes, and these assignments tend to come in ...

Re: THOR 2 Coming July 2013; Branagh Not Returning

Branagh is planning to return to the BBC series Wallander. Six feature length episodes are planned. Branagh, who portrays Kurt Wallander in the BBC adaption, will direct and produce an upcoming film based on Italian Shoes. The film will probably star Anthony Hopkins as Fredrik Welin. Filming will m...

Re: PROMETHEUS - Ridley Scott's "ALIEN" Prequel - New Detail

Damon Lindelof also on record now saying this movie is indeed ALIEN related -- seems to me they just want to distance themselves from the ALIEN 3, ALIEN RESURRECTION and ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movies....can't blame them there. Here's an interview from last week: It started as an Alien prequel as that's ...

THOR 2 Set for 11/15/13 - Patty Jenkins Directing

Well that's a fast turnaround! Branagh's not coming back though. That said, it's all good with me...THOR is quite possibly one of my fave super-hero films (and likely this year's highest grossing genre film too). UPDATE: Disney has set a July 26, 2013 release date for Thor 2. EARLIER EXCLUSIVE: Marv...
