Minuscule - Great French CGI Shortfilms

#1 Post by romanD »

Yo, just came back from a Paris Trip and found these hilarious DVDs there:

Minuscule - The Private Life of Insects

There are cheap, 12,99 Euros each, 3 Volumes, consisting of 20 episodes each.

Most of them are just laugh out loud hilarious fun, all are without any dialogue, but with fantastic and imaginative sound design, which makes half of the jokes actually. The makers are clearly Star Wars fans as many episodes feature chases through the gras in Phantom Menace style. All backgrounds are shot real, only the insects added in CGI in cute designs.

here is the website: http://www.minuscule.tv/

and you can find a couple episodes on youtube. Just look for Minuscule.

Some episodes are very romantic/melancholy, loved the one about the Wasp which wants to travel to the moon... very sad, yet funny in a beautiful-sad way.

Hands down, almost all of them deserve an oscar for best animated short. Rarely Ive seen such imaginative and original work (though I have to admit that some episodes just dont know how to come to a satisfying finish, a common problem with shortfilms, but hey, can you come up with 60 shortfilms in a row?)

Length is always 5.45 min for each one.

Do yourself a favor and check them out. Available at amazon.fr
