RAMBO - The Movie and Tyler's Score

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

Seeing how well ROCKY BALBOA turned out, I'm genuinely interested in seeing Stallone bringing back his other iconic role for another go-around. The fact that it looks like a "hard R action picture" certainly looks good to me anyway. :)

My main gripe is the title -- we had FIRST BLOOD, then RAMBO -- which had the subtitle "First Blood II" -- then RAMBO III. So how is this called RAMBO (no numbers attached)? Bizarre, especially since the second movie was already called RAMBO!

As far as Brian Tyler's score goes, you can get a taste of it at his Myspace page -- and it's actually just a faithful performance of Goldsmith's theme, which I assume is used throughout (and good thing). With Stallone involved, you knew the original theme would be used again, but it's so bittersweet to hear it without Jerry involved. But although it's no substitute for the original, at least it sounds better than what John Ottman did to John Williams in SUPERMAN RETURNS!

BTW Lionsgate's label is releasing the CD on 2/5 for those who are interested.
