NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN Rejected Song Surfaces

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

An original, unused song written for NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN has been unearthed, written by Stephen Forsyth, and you can hear it here:

I've been critical over the years of Michel Legrand's score, but I've grown to like his theme song in some respects -- not its placement over the credits (which is admittedly terrible), but the song itself has some melody and a catchy bridge. Lani Hall is no great vocalist and the production of the song is dated, but the theme itself isn't half bad. (Now only if portions of his score worked better!). That said NSNA hasn't aged well over the years as a movie so the score doesn't bother me nearly as much either.

This song...meh...I think it's actually pretty awful, and even LESS Bond-like than Legrand's. But I'm happy it's been unearthed, with more information on the track itself found here:

Along those lines there's a Youtube video someone at FSM mentioned for a supposedly rejected YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE song. It's bad -- not nearly as bad as the rejected NSNA song -- but it's fascinating to listen to. (This is different than the rejected YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE song on the Bond 30th Anniversary CD).

Makes you appreciate Barry's classic theme all the more, IMO.
