OUTSIDERS Score Replaced on New DVD

I can see why Columbia axed Daniele Amfitheatrof's hideous score from the new MAJOR DUNDEE DVD, but Carmine Coppola's score for THE OUTSIDERS has apparently been dumped from the new 2-DVD "Complete Novel Director's Cut." There seemed to be some confusion about this (the original PR notes said as much), but this definitely seems to be a surprise since Coppola's intentionally melodramatic score was one of its more effective elements (for me at least -- I realize some found it overdone).

At any rate, I'm not getting a screener so I'll check it out like everyone else...but it's surprising, to say the least.

Maybe like Major Dundee the DVD will have an option to hear the original score?

Apparently it doesn't from the one review I read...which is curious.
