Kino Lorber - April Studio Classics Announced

New York, NY -- March 22, 2017 -- Kino Lorber Studio Classics proudly announces its home video releases for April 2017.

Streeting on April 18th are a 4K restoration of David O. Selznick's 1957 production of A Farewell to Arms, starring Rock Hudson and Jennifer Jones; Sunset in the West, starring Roy Rogers; the 1948 film noir classic The Scar, newly remastered in HD, starring Paul Henreid and Joan Bennett; The Mephisto Waltz starring Alan Alda; The Crucible, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder; Tristan + Isolde starring James Franco and Sophia Myles; and the acclaimed 1974 TV movie The Migrants, starring Cloris Leachman, Ron Howard and Sissy Spacek.

April 25th releases include a 2K restoration of the Western classic Broken Arrow, starring James Stewart and Jeff Chandler; Daredevils of the Red Circle, the 1939 action-adventure serial favorite, newly mastered in HD from a 4K scan; Don't Give Up the Ship, starring Jerry Lewis and newly mastered in HD from a 4K scan; Papa's Delicate Condition, starring Jackie Gleason and Glynis Johns; the epic comedy Those Daring You Men in their Jaunty Jalopies, with an all-star cast including Tony Curtis, Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, Jack Hawkins and Terry-Thomas; Jacques Demy's The Pied Piper starring Donovan, John Hurt and Donald Pleasence; and The Optimists, starring Peter Sellers.\

Synopsis: Based on the classic novel by Ernest Hemingway (For Whom the Bell Tolls). Initially strangers, the two find they must suddenly grapple with difficult decisions about their life together until fate steps in and their future becomes uncertain. Synopsis: A gang of vicious crooks has been running guns and ammunition out to foreign revolutionaries. Gordon MacKnight (Pierre Watkin, Meet John Doe) is the mastermind behind these elaborate schemes - hijacking freight trains and killing the crews, leaving no witnesses. Sheriff Tad Osborne (Will Wright, Adam's Rib) is discouraged and has not been able to catch the killers. His niece Dixie (Penny Edwards, Trail of Robin Hood) urges him to quit while he can, but when Roy (Roy Rogers, My Pal Trigger) and his Purple Sage riders arrive in the border town, they persuade the sheriff to stay in office and help them capture the criminals. MacKnight tries to escape, but Roy and Trigger follow to ride him down and bring him back to justice. Beautifully shot in TruColor by Jack A. Marta (Cat Ballou) and wonderfully directed by the great William Witney (Daredevils of the Red Circle).

Synopsis: Originally released as Hollow Triumph, this top-notch film noir suspense thriller gave actor Paul Henreid (Casablanca) a chance to trade in his romantic image for not one, but two sinister performances. After a botched hit on a casino, gambler John Muller (Henreid) has nowhere to run and with a band of killers hired by a rival mobster on his trail, he's mistaken for the psychiatrist Dr. Bartok, his dead ringer. He decides to kill Bartok and impersonate him, but it's not long before the doctor's beautiful secretary (Joan Bennett, The Woman in the Window, Scarlet Street) is on to him and Muller discovers the doctor had a few of his skeletons in the closet. Written by film noir veteran Daniel Fuchs (Criss Cross, Panic in the Streets), beautifully shot by the great John Alton (He Walked by Night) and wonderfully directed by Steve Sekely (The Day of the Triffids).

Synopsis: The year is 1870, and former Union soldier Tom Jeffords (James Stewart, No Highway in the Sky) is recruited to remove a tribe of Apache warriors from a U.S. Mail delivery route by any means necessary. Jeffords chooses peace instead of more killings and decides to learn the Apache way of life. He agrees to a peace treaty with Apache chief Cochise (Jeff Chandler, Ten Seconds to Hell) and marries a beautiful Native American woman (Debra Paget, Cry of the City). Tragedy strikes after the settlers break the peace treaty, but now it's Cochise trying to stop Jeffords from acting out in vengeance.
