Weekend Box Office Labor Day Edition - It's Bad

The good news for HITMAN'S BODYGUARD is it's #1 for the 3rd straight weekend -- bad news is another horrible frame for the movies. IT will shake things up next weekend, though some of the estimates look on the high side to me. We'll find out!

Not much traction for the CE3K re-release, which came in under GHOSTBUSTERS, or the other newcomers (the INHUMANS premiere?!? ZZZZZZZ)

Should there be a supplemental number for CE3K with its previous theatrical grosses to see how far it can move up the ladder in history?

It'll definitely be added in officially but inflation needs to be factored as whatever it grossed back in 78 would be multiplied exponentially by today's dollars.

PS it grossed $132 mil domestic in 77 and 80 and that would be nearly $500 mil by today's standards.

I haven't even heard of most of those movies (and there's a Despicable Me 3?).

If they can't get the attention of a die-hard movie fan like myself, I have to wonder if they are getting through to the casual viewer at all.

Despicable Me 3 will end up the highest grossing movie of the year worldwide.

More and more articles are popping up about this dismal summer.
I really wonder if the studios are even listening - I hope they are.
It's not impossible to see some interesting movies being put out, that aren't just comic book adaptations or franchise sequels.
