WEDDING CRASHERS: Thumbs Up For The Movie AND The Score

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

Enjoyed a matinee of WEDDING CRASHERS today -- a lot of fun, very well made, nicely shot by Julio Macat in scope, and memorably scored by Rolfe Kent.

Here's one of the rare comedies you'll see where the music is able to create a tone and atmosphere and not just underscore the "hyjinks" element. Because the movie actually has some character development and romance, Kent's score is able to memorably assist the story. I assume there'll never be a score album, but for a change the music really had its own "identity" and never felt as if it was copying a temp-track.

Kent has done similar, unsung work in comedies before and this one was really pleasant and helped the movie, which itself was funny, lighthearted and good-natured...the perfect tonic for most of the duds we've been seeing. Worth a look (and not a bad date flick either!).
