Long-awaited, long-overdue: The Professionals as you have never seen them before.

Bodie and Doyle need little by way of introduction, but if the series had at all escaped you since its debut in 1977 their boss George Cowley, head of CI5, couldn’t put it more succinctly than his opening gambit: "anarchy, acts of terror, crimes against the public. To combat it I’ve got special men – experts from the army, the police, from every service. These are The Professionals".

Featuring the perfect ensemble cast of Martin Shaw, Gordon Jackson (completely against type here) and the much-missed Lewis Collins, the series ran for 57 action-packed episodes and made an immediate impact on British and then international audiences which has sustained 35 years. But the series has never looked this good. Painstakingly restored from the camera-original negatives the series could have been made yesterday. No matter how many times you have seen The Professionals, this is a new experience, like seeing it for the first time.

FEATURES ON THIS NEW EDITION
[] Brand-new, High Definition restorations of all 18 episodes in series four and five from the camera-original negatives
[] Brand-new 5.1 tracks from original sound elements
[] Remastered original as-broadcast mono tracks
[] Remastered music-only tracks featuring Laurie Johnson’s original scores
[] HD photo galleries featuring hundreds of rare and previously unseen images
[] Exclusive book of programme notes authored by TV historian Andrew Pixley, which documents the complete production history for the 18 episodes in series four and five
[] All episodes are presented in their original production order
[] PDF material featuring scripts and memorabilia
[] English HOH subtitles

Two eligible bachelors, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, are in love. Jack's unworthy habit of representing himself as his imaginary brother Ernest, however, and Algernon's adoption of an equally fictitious name and reputation to simplify his courtship has led each girl to believe she is engaged to the non-existent Ernest! As both men try desperately to maintain their respective deceptions, neither had bargained on the interference of the fearsome Lady Bracknell!

Assisted by a legion of charismatic spherical robots known as the Zeroids, they battle a cabal of evil adversaries – none more terrifying than android crone Zelda, the would-be conqueror of all "Earth-Scum"!

The first thirteen episodes of Terrahawks are presented here for the first time in High Definition, restored from the best available materials. Special features have not yet been detailed.

This groundbreaking ATV children's drama memorably blends hard science and fantasy in its tale of two teenagers who discover the existence of a 'time barrier' enabling them to travel to different periods and locations – from World War Two to chilling visions of the future.

Devised by Ruth Boswell – who would go on to produce both The Tomorrow People and Shadows – Timeslip was unabashedly intelligent and often prescient in its theme of the use and abuse of science. Well remembered to this day as a benchmark of 1970s telefantasy, this set contains all 26 episodes alongside a wealth of special features.

Three children have vanished from the tiny Midlands village of St Oswald. First to disappear is local girl Sarah, then Simon Randall and Liz Skinner, who are on holiday with Liz's parents. Only Commander Traynor, an apparent stranger to the area, can offer some idea of where they are – and that idea is so incredible and horrifying that the Skinners cannot believe it...

SPECIAL FEATURES:
[] Behind the Barrier : feature-length documentary
[] Beyond the Barrier : mini-episode
[] Exclusive book on the making of the series by television historian Andrew Pixley
[] Back to the Barrier : the cast return to the series location
[] 2007 Convention footage
[] PDF archive featuring scripts and production paperwork
[] Image gallery
[] Disc text features – including an overview of Timeslip comic strip artist Mike Noble

Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) is on its way to blu-ray… which should come as welcome news for fans of the series. Remastering from original film elements is already well under way, and as to the results… well, you’ve already had a taster in the form of the trailer we released last week. It’s coming sooner than you think. Read on…

A Sentimental Journey…

Of all the ITC action-adventure series of the 1960s and early ’70s, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) remains one of the most fondly remembered, even after nearly fifty years. Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope took the title roles of the downbeat detective and his paranormal partner respectively, with Cope donning an all-white suit and boots in his ghostly guise. All white? Well, that’s what we all thought. One thing that the remastering process has revealed is that Marty’s suit wasn’t quite as white as we imagined. In fact, it was decidedly off-white when seen against his brilliant white shirt…

My Late, Lamented Opening Titles…

‘It’s all right, Jeff: Jeannie can’t see or hear me. Nobody can. Only you, Jeff, only you!’ This narration from the ghostly Hopkirk was all any viewer needed to jump straight into the world of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). No matter if you missed the pilot episode – the opening credits told the backstory every week of the original transmission. On later broadcasts, however, the titles were different – and a mystery was born beyond even the investigative powers of Marty Hopkirk! It’s a bit complicated to explain here, but all will be revealed further down the line. For the moment, let it suffice to say that the original titles from the first UK broadcasts have been restored for this new blu-ray edition.

When Can you Expect to Start Seeing Things?

The complete series of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) will be released on blu-ray next October… but you can get your hands on the first four episodes from January 9th, with a second volume following shortly afterwards, and the remainder to come between now and the end of April next year.

It means that instead of completing all the remastering work and then releasing the set, we’ll be releasing episodes just as soon as they are ready. Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) will be offered in six individual volumes at £10 per volume. Buy all six and you’ll receive an exclusive free slipcase to house them all (a Networkonair exclusive).

One of ITC's best-loved series, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) takes the standard "private eye" formula and turns it on its head by making one of the partners a ghost!

Starring Mike Pratt as the earthy, rugged Jeff Randall and Kenneth Cope as his late partner Marty Hopkirk, the glamour is supplied by Annette Andre as Marty's wife Jean. Newly remastered in HD from the original 35mm film elements for this Blu-ray edition, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) has been given a new lease of (after) life!

On this disc:

YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND A FALL GUY
You don't expect a nun to double-cross you – unless she turns out to be something quite different...

WHO KILLED **** ROBIN?
Birds can be killed – not murdered. But the attempted killing of birds leads to human murders when an eccentric bird-lover leaves a very strange will.

THE SMILE BEHIND THE VEIL
Only a ghost would notice the smile behind the veil of a funeral mourner – and when Hopkirk does so, it reveals a strange murder mystery.

IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THICKER THAN WATER
Randall is employed to deliver an envelope to an escaped convict without realising that it contains an invitation to death...

Handling cases that are too baffling to be solved by normal police routine is all in a day's work for Department S - a shadowy Interpol department that specialises in the inexplicable and the illogical!

This cult ITC series stars Peter Wyngarde as flamboyant, dandified novelist Jason King – who uses his overactive imagination and droll wit to help solve the most difficult of cases – Joel Fabiani as no-nonsense "action man" Stewart Sullivan and Rosemary Nicols as gorgeous computer expert Annabelle Hurst. Newly remastered in HD from the original 35mm film elements for this Blu-ray edition, Department S has never looked better!

On this disc:

The Man in the Elegant Room
A beautiful room, complete in every detail, erected inside a disused factory. Its contents: a dead girl and a gibbering, demented young man.

The Pied Piper of Hambledown
What is the secret of a ghost village? All the inhabitants, it seems, have been kidnapped - all except one...

A Cellar Full of Silence
Four bodies, all in fancy dress, are found in the cellar of an empty house.

The Trojan Tanker
A dangerous road lies ahead when the highly inflammable material inside a crashed tanker turns out to be not petrol, but a beautiful blonde!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER

• This is a PRE-BUY for Department S: Volume 1 out of six Blu-ray and is only available while stocks last.

• As this is a PRE-BUY PAYMENT WILL BE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY but the item(s) will not be despatched until 27th February 2017 (at the latest).

The second of the ITC series produced by Monty Berman and Dennis Spooner, Department S was in some respects a revamp of the format they had successfully developed for their preceding series The Champions: three investigators, two male and one female, based in a European capital, probing a variety of mysteries, and reporting to a departmental head in overall control of operations. But whereas the Nemesis agents of The Champions had the benefit of super powers to assist them in their missions, the personnel of Department S would have to rely on their own individual brilliance coupled with an analytical approach to problem-solving: and their missions would all begin with a seemingly insoluble mystery.

The series was sold to Lew Grade of ITC on the cost-saving innovation of being a joint production alongside Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). Shooting on Department S commenced on 30 April, 1968, while its companion series entered production a month later.

In creating the Department S format, Dennis Spooner toyed with an idea from World War II: Winston Churchill had reputedly employed a team of authors, headed up by satanic specialist Dennis Wheatley, to dream up imaginative ideas for combatting the Nazis. This in turn gave Spooner the idea of a successful writer solving bizarre mysteries in the mould of Sherlock Holmes, and thus was born the character Robert Cullingford, initially envisaged as a tweedy Oxford don.

The part was conceived with an actor like Kenneth More in mind, but Cyril Frankel, creative consultant on the series, suggested Peter Wyngarde for the role. Wyngarde, in turn, took the decision to modernise Spooner’s creation, re-imagining Cullingford as a flamboyant, womanising man of the moment, never far from a convenient bottle of champagne, and always immaculately attired in tailor-made suits. The name Robert Cullingford, with its suggestion of dusty academia, was ditched in favour of the considerably hipper Jason King. The result was a character whose time had most definitely come.

Following the casting formula of The Champions, King was placed alongside an American agent in the shape of Stewart Sullivan (Joel Fabiani) and a female operative, computer specialist Annabelle Hurst (Rosemary Nicols). Wyngarde aside, perhaps the most innovative casting decision was the inclusion of Gambian actor Dennis Alaba Peters as Department S chief Sir Curtis Seretse, reflecting a move away from stereotypical portrayals of Afro-Caribbean characters in film and television.

The original idea was to have Jason King on hand in a consultancy capacity, offering suggestions to the two Department S operatives, and the first episodes in production all adhered to this template, with the character often absent for large chunks of the narrative. However, it quickly became clear that the strutting, peacock-like King, with his imperious manner and suave way with the ladies was a strong enough lead to have carried the stories single-handedly. Jason King quickly became the focus for most of the action and went on to enjoy his own spin-off series, to say nothing of making a household name out of Peter Wyngarde.

While The Champions had operated on a global stage, the action in Department S was largely confined to Europe, and most frequently, England (despite the operatives working out of Interpol’s offices in Paris). This creative decision worked to the series’ advantage, requiring fewer of the unconvincing sound stages that had been necessary in The Champions to depict jungles and other exotic locales, and offering greater scope for location work. Some episodes, in fact, relied rather too heavily on location shooting, with several overrunning their production schedules quite significantly. Even so, work on the series was completed in June 1969, with episodes having been on air since January of the same year, a full nine months ahead of its production partner, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).

Department S has never quite enjoyed the same popular appeal as some of its contemporaries. In media retrospectives, Jason King has always eclipsed his original series, and Department S has continually been passed over during revivals of material from the same era: it was absent from the ITV repeat runs of the mid ’80s, and missing again during BBC2’s 1990s ITC reruns. Its first full repeat run in some twenty years was on the long-defunct satellite channel Bravo during the mid ’90s, and barring a solitary episode shown during a themed BBC2 evening of 1960s television, Department S has gone unseen on terrestrial television for forty years.

However you remember it, it won’t have been in High Definition, and its has certainly never looked as good as it does in our new, remastered Blu-ray edition. Now is the time to properly appreciate the exploits of the Department S operatives in never-before-seen quality. Roll up those cuffs and crack open the champagne… Jason King and co are back!
