I think he's right. And Fox was smart -- so smart -- now to back out of the movie business in retrospect, because this:
The industry's ongoing consolidation has resulted in higher budgets in film and television but "less room for truly original work [and] lots more derivative work," he added. "That's going to create a reaction to this massive conglomeration of businesses."
...has only been accelerated by COVID into what was going to happen anyway.

We'll be seeing a contraction of screens. The studios will be able to make money off GODZILLA VS KONG and Marvel movies, but for everyone else -- the days of going to the movies like you used to know are very likely over.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing if you are tired of Marvel and Disney. More outlets for storytelling and less corporate control are giving writers and directors more freedom in projects NOT going to theaters. That's what he's talking about with streaming, and he's right there also.

Bring the cinema home to you for only $1500 (that's after you've paid $1800 for the 86-inch screen of course)...

Read today that the Alamo Drafthouse near me is tentatively re-opening in June. It would be nice to see The Conjuring 3 in a theater. I find horror movies work much better for me that way. Not sure if I want to wear a mask in the theater. I guess I could continuously order popcorn refills to always be eating something...

Our Alamo here in VA doesn't seem to care. I order a drink, but keep my mask off the whole time. Nobody has ever complained.

Masks don't mean jack anymore. The government only mandates them because, if they stop, they can't "control" the populace.

Actually a few matinees before 1:00 PM this Friday. That means I can get my Stath on with Wrath Of Man and still make it home in time for a 4:00 PM shift at work.

It's like a taste of the Before Times... :)
