The interest in the original cuts of the film are likely localized among the older generation of fans...those films came out 40+ years ago. And that generation (of which I am a part) is not getting any younger. I have no empiric data to back any of this up, but I imagine it would be a waste of money for them to do at this point. The younger generation likely doesn't care about the original cuts because they were the ones who grew up on the "director's cuts" of the film. So outside of film purists and the older generation, I would agree with his comment that the demand is likely not there. Lucas won on that count...lost on everything else, but won on that count.
