The reason the series worked was entirely because of Sellers. He was one of a kind in what he did and NO ONE else could do this character or continue that franchise. Some characters can be played by other actors but other characters are for one actor only. You can't have someone else do Clouseau or any other variant of him anymore than you can have someone other than Peter Falk do Columbo.

Nope. Don't want to see this, either.

I don't think they are they going ever to realize that no one can fill Sellars' shoes. Benigni couldn't cut it, Martin and didn't.

But as long as they own this property they'll keep remaking it (like they do everything else).

Maybe Kenneth Branagh should pull out his "Poirot" mustache and give it a try!

I'd feel better if Murphy was playing the new Clifton Sleigh. He might be able to fill THOSE shoes!

Agree with you and Eric. Also, I did not like Arkin's portrayal either. Not going to apologize for saying that Sellers owned that role and no one should be trying to imitate him...because they cannot do it and looks and sound completely stupid and inept when they try.

Wondering if now's the time to "move" the Shout Factory box-set, seeing as it's going routinely from $200-$300 on The Bay these days...
